Summary:
The Marketing Project Manager is responsible for planning, prioritizing, and managing the execution of marketing projects across Real Salt Lake, Utah Royals FC, Real Monarchs, and the RSL Academy. This role oversees the full project lifecycle, ensuring initiatives are delivered on time, within scope, and aligned with organizational goals. Working closely with cross-functional teams and external partners, the Marketing Project Manager drives efficient workflows, manages project intake and prioritization, and ensures high-quality execution of creative, brand, and marketing initiatives.
The ideal candidate is highly organized, collaborative, proactive, and thrives in a dynamic sports environment with multiple priorities and deadlines.
Responsibilities Include:
  • Manage the complete lifecycle of marketing projects from intake, planning, execution, and final delivery.
  • Own the Marketing Department's project management platform (Asana or similar), including project templates, intake forms, workflows, automations, dashboards, reporting, and workload management.
  • Manage the department's project intake process, ensuring all requests are properly scoped, prioritized, assigned, and resourced before work begins.
  • Develop and continuously improve project management processes that increase efficiency, transparency, and accountability across the Marketing department.
  • Build detailed project plans, timelines, workback schedules, and creative briefs that clearly define project objectives, deliverables, target audiences, deadlines, and success metrics.
  • Evaluate team capacity and project priorities to balance matchday marketing, sponsorship activations, ticket sales campaigns, creative production, digital initiatives, and long-term brand projects.
  • Coordinate project kickoff meetings, status updates, creative reviews, stakeholder approvals, and post-project evaluations.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for assigned projects, ensuring clear and consistent communication among internal stakeholders, league partners, agencies, vendors, and external partners.
  • Collaborate closely with Corporate Partnerships, Ticketing, Communications, People & Culture, Soccer Operations, MLS, NWSL, and other departments to ensure marketing initiatives support organizational priorities and contractual obligations.
  • Assign project responsibilities, monitor progress, and ensure accountability for project deliverables.
  • Ensure all marketing assets and campaigns meet Club brand standards, league requirements, sponsorship commitments, and project objectives.
  • Monitor project timelines, budgets, and scope, and proactively identify risks and implement contingency plans when necessary.
  • Maintain department reporting and project dashboards that provide leadership with visibility into workload, timelines, and project status.
  • Identify workflow improvements that reduce bottlenecks, eliminate inefficiencies, and enhance collaboration across departments.
  • Train and support department staff on project management processes and best practices.
  • Support matchday marketing operations, special events, and other Club initiatives as assigned.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, Business, Communications, Project Management, or a related field.
  • Three (3) to five (5) years of professional project management experience, preferably in sports, entertainment, agency, or consumer marketing.
  • Experience managing multiple concurrent marketing or creative projects with competing deadlines.
  • Experience using Asana or similar project management software.
  • Exceptional organizational skills with outstanding attention to detail. Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize competing responsibilities and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to anticipate challenges and develop effective solutions.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment while managing confidential and sensitive information.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Google Workspace.
  • Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required by the Club's match and event schedule.
  • Exceptional project management, organization, and time management skills.
  • Strong understanding of workflow optimization, resource planning, and operational efficiency.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Professional sports, entertainment, or agency marketing experience.
  • CAPM or PMP certification.
  • Experience building and managing marketing operations, workflows, dashboards, and reporting within Asana or similar work management platforms.
  • Experience coordinating integrated marketing campaigns across digital, social media, print, experiential, and broadcast channels.
  • Experience managing sponsorship activation or fulfillment projects.

Physical Demands & Work Environment:
This position regularly requires sitting, standing, walking, bending, reaching, lifting, carrying, and operating standard office equipment. The employee may be required to lift and transport materials weighing up to 25 pounds, including team equipment, travel materials, and operational supplies. The role requires frequent movement between offices, locker rooms, training facilities, stadiums, airports, hotels, and other event locations.
