Job description

Position: Transportation Support Technician

Type: Full-Time

Position Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Transportation Support Technician to oversee fleet operations for the U.S. Army SERE School. This on-site role is responsible for the full management of contractor vehicles, ensuring operational readiness, regulatory compliance, and logistical efficiency.

The manager will lead daily inspections, maintenance coordination, vendor management, and reporting, while serving as the key liaison for military personnel. Strong leadership, organization, and communication skills are essential to ensure seamless transportation support for mission-critical training operations.

On-site qualified transportation personnel that serve as the U.S. Army Survival, Evasion, Resistance, and Escape (SERE) School Transportation Support Personnel. Transportation personnel will provide management and oversight of Government vehicles assigned to the SERE Detachment. Contractor duties are IAW U.S. Army SERE School SOPs and respective POI content.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Conducting periodic inspections of vehicles to ensure vehicle inspections are performed and documented in accordance with the Fort Rucker Transportation Motor Pool (TMP) policies and guidance
  • Conduct full Fleet Management both Contractor and Government vehicles
  • Conduct daily inspections of vehicle fleet
  • Conduct routine and higher levels of maintenance on vehicle fleet as required
  • Conducts logistical supply chain operations for identifying, purchasing and acquiring all vehicle fleet required parts, equipment and expendables.
  • Maintains and ensures road worthy and state certifiable vehicle fleet
  • Assist the government in the phase out and return of current government fleet of vehicles
  • Management of third-party logistics services providers for maintenance and repairs using current existing corporate accounts
  • Assist in Government accident investigations as required
  • Maintenance and documentation of the Leased Vehicle Log
  • Submit status of all areas of responsibility in a weekly report

REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Must have or be able to obtain a SECRET Security Clearance
  • Must be able to access installation
  • High School graduate or equivalent
  • Computer literacy with experience in Microsoft 360 (Word, Teams, Excel, Outlook, Power Point, etc.)
  • US citizen or ability to legally work in the US
  • Present a professional and credible image at all times
  • Superior management and communication skills
  • Prefer current and valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with HAZMAT endorsement

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to talk, listen, and write. The employee frequently is required to use foot/ankle motions, hands or fingers, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls. The employee is required to stand, walk, sit; and reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
