Job Description:
This role is an integral part of a team tasked with creating unique project concepts, developing scripts and storyboards to communicate the vision. They will secure talent and subject matter experts, interfacing with these individuals directly to schedule and conduct interviews, guiding discussions to elicit the strongest narrative. In preparation, they will draft prompts, craft questions and scout ideal locations, establishing the visual direction. In addition to this, the Multimedia Producer will manage the audiovisual production of content for UF events and campus initiatives that support the university's strategic plan.
Assignments will also include, but are not limited to filming and editing long- and short-form pieces that articulate institutional priorities and news, as well as content for marketing campaigns that target both internal and external audiences, digital asset management, and pre- through post-production support for all multimedia projects produced by the department.
Creative
  • Conceptualizes, storyboards, and produces high-quality, creative multimedia content that supports and elevates the University of Florida brand.
  • Independently develops multimedia scripts, questions, and direction for interviews.
  • Manages SCM studio space.
  • Communicates with talent directly, scheduling, scouting locations, acquiring props, and conducting interviews independently.
  • Edits and color grades projects using non-linear editing software such as Adobe Premiere, Davinci Resolve.
  • Demonstrates the ability to handle all phases of assigned projects from concept through final delivery.
  • Transports and sets up equipment and/or travels to locations via state or personal vehicle for assignments, serving as lead for equipment operation.

Campus Media Support
  • Researches and tests industry trends, practices, technology and equipment, identifying and recommending techniques and concepts for creating contemporary and captivating content.
  • Supports campus partners with event and story coverage, along with offering multimedia services and updates to UF visual asset repositories.
  • Organizes and maintains digital content server archives.

Communications / Training / Other
  • Communicates effectively with UF Strategic Communications and Marketing staff, internal and external clients, and university officials to ensure effective, relevant, and timely production and completion of assignments.
  • Conducts training and guidance on audiovisual best practices for campus stakeholders.
  • Maintains regular inventories of equipment, software, tools, and content.
  • Handles routine university equipment maintenance.
  • Other projects and tasks as assigned.

Normal work schedule is Monday through Friday 8a.m.- 5 p.m. However, the job requires some evening and weekend assignments, including some in-state travel. All SCM employees are considered essential and may be required to work remotely or report to campus during emergencies.
Expected Salary:
$45,000 - $55,000 commensurate with education, skills and experience.

  • Experience with directing on-camera talent, use of professional studio and on-location lighting, and editing audio.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in video editing and use of multimedia software especially Adobe Premiere and After Effects, Davinci Resolve and Fusion.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with the ability to professionally engage with faculty, staff, students, leadership and others within and outside the university.
  • Adept at creating a visual "look" and capable of using lighting, composition, and camera movement to tell a story.
  • Skilled in sound mixing/audio design.
  • Comfortable with editing techniques and creating "style" in post-production.
  • Self-motivated, able to manage multiple concurrent projects and activities, and effectively manage time to meet deadlines.
  • Positive, professional attitude with strong drive and initiative.
  • Team-oriented and able to work independently.
  • Animation/motion graphics experience is a plus.
