Job description

GDP is a creative marketing agency that combines the best of strategy, design, and journalism to help brands clarify complexity, and we're looking for a Business Development and Marketing Manager to join our team.

The role

We're looking for a candidate who can drive business development, manage our marketing initiatives, and provide light executive support to our President. Our clients include some of the most innovative companies in tech, as well as leaders across other industries, and this role is at the center of building and deepening those relationships. The ideal candidate is a self-starter who can work with autonomy, move quickly across disciplines, and bring genuine curiosity to the work. This is a high-impact visible role that directly shapes how GDP grows.

This is a hybrid role (in office Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays) in San Francisco.

Key responsibilitiesBusiness development (~60% of time)
  • Maintain the business development pipeline in HubSpot, tracking and prioritizing opportunities based on strategic fit and the agency's near- and long-term goals.
  • Manage the inquiries inbox, promptly responding to all inbound leads, surfacing qualified opportunities to the President, and communicating next steps to relevant stakeholders.
  • Conduct first-call screens for new business opportunities, independently or in collaboration with Executive team members, depending on scale and relationships.
  • Lead proposal and pitch development for new business opportunities in partnership with the President and Executive Team.
  • Qualify new opportunities and drive proposal development with the broader team.
  • Proactively reach out to existing and prospective contacts, leveraging timely news, milestones, or updates relevant to GDP or the contact.
  • Drive the end-to-end process for responding to RFIs and RFPs.
  • Consult with the Engagement team to identify and develop new opportunities with existing clients, providing high-level or hands-on support depending on priority.
  • Present ideas and solutions compellingly, both internally and externally, with the ability to manage group dynamics and hold a room.
Marketing (~30% of time)
  • Manage GDP's external presence across LinkedIn and Instagram, maintaining a consistent cadence of content that reflects the agency's voice and work.
  • Develop and manage marketing campaigns and events, including newsletters, case study distribution, and thought leadership outreach.
  • Coordinate the creation of marketing materials, including case studies, credentials decks, and capability overviews, working with internal teams to source, design, and edit content.
  • Maintain brand consistency across all external communications and client-facing materials.
  • Track and report on marketing performance metrics (open rates, engagement, pipeline attribution) and use data to refine strategy.
  • Identify and manage award submissions, press opportunities, and speaking engagements that raise GDP's profile.
  • Oversee updates to GDP's website content in collaboration with relevant internal stakeholders and our external partner.
Executive support (~10% of time)
  • Manage the President's calendar for business development and external-facing meetings, ensuring preparation materials are ready in advance.
  • Prepare briefing documents, meeting agendas, and follow-up summaries for key external meetings.
  • Draft and coordinate external communications on behalf of the President as needed.
  • Support the President in tracking key relationships and ensuring consistent outreach cadences.
  • Support the planning and execution of internal company events and culture initiatives in collaboration with the broader team.
Qualifications
  • BA or equivalent experience required.
  • 4+ years of experience in a client-facing business development, growth, or marketing role.
  • Experience leading proposal and pitch development, including responding to RFIs and RFPs.
  • Strong marketing instincts and experience with managing social media, email campaigns, and content development.
  • Proficiency with HubSpot (CRM and marketing tools) and Google Suite; experience with LinkedIn for outreach and brand-building is a plus.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; comfort with presenting to senior executives and external stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Highly organized and able to manage multiple workstreams simultaneously without dropping the ball.
  • The ability to work autonomously and take ownership, while also being a collaborative partner who makes the team better.
  • The ability to be proactive, resourceful, and thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Experience in a creative agency or professional services environment is preferred.
