What is a creative manager?

Creative Managers are professionals who oversee the creative direction and output of a company or team, often within advertising, marketing, or design environments. They lead creative projects from concept to completion, manage creative teams, and ensure that visual, written, and multimedia content aligns with brand strategy and goals. How does a creative manager typically collaborate with cross-functional teams on large projects?

Creative Managers often serve as the bridge between creative teams and other departments, such as marketing, product development, and sales. They are responsible for translating project goals into actionable creative strategies, ensuring alignment with brand guidelines, and facilitating clear communication across teams. This involves regular meetings, feedback sessions, and collaborative planning to deliver cohesive campaigns or products. Senior Meta Ecommerce Media Buyer

4am Media

San Diego, CA โ€ข On-site

$30K/mo

Full-time

Re-posted 12 days ago

Job description

4AM Media owns and operates 3 DTC brands across health, cleaning, and pets. We're full-stack brand builders supply chain, creative, custom funnels, media buying, analytics, and customer service all happen under one roof.

Last year we spent over $40M across paid media scaling our own products. No clients. No middlemen. No agency politics. Just our brands, our P&L, and a small but mighty growth team of 20 that ships fast because we don't have to ask anyone for permission.

We're looking for a Senior Meta Media Buyer to take ownership of meaningful Meta spend across our brand portfolio and scale it profitably.

What you'll actually own

You'll be responsible for the full P&L outcome of the Meta budgets you manage not just ROAS and CPAs, but contribution margin and brand MER. Because we run only 3 brands, you'll have real depth and ownership on each one.

You'll have direct input on what gets created, what gets tested, and what gets killed. The decisions are yours. We'll back you with the creative team, dev resources, and budget to execute.

Starting budgets typically run $25-40k/day per buyer with significant room to scale based on performance.

What a great week looks like for you
  • You wake up and immediately know how yesterday's spend performed which creatives won, which landing pages converted, what to scale, what to kill
  • You brief the creative team on your next batch of tests based on what the data is telling you, not gut feel
  • You ship 10-30 new creative variants and 2-5 LP tests per week and you're ruthless about reading the results
  • You catch a tracking issue at 9pm that would have cost $20k by morning and you fix it
  • You walk into the weekly updates with a clear picture of what's working, what's broken, and what you need to do next
  • You see a competitor's funnel that's working and you have a tested counter-version live within 72 hours
What we need you to bring
  • 5+ years buying Meta for ecommerce with at least 2 years with spend levels well over $500,000 per month.
  • Personally scaled accounts to $30k+/day in profitable spend (not "managed a team that did" you, hands on keyboard)
  • P&L thinking You understand contribution margin, Northbeam, nMER, and LTV and you make decisions accordingly
  • Creative intuition. You can look at an ad and predict whether it'll work, then prove yourself right or wrong with data
  • Comfortable with ownership. No one is going to tell you what to test next. You decide.
Why this role is different
  • You work on our brands, not clients. Every dollar of contribution margin you generate goes back into the company you work for and into your bonus
  • No approval chains. Want to test a new creative angle, kill an underperforming campaign, or 5x a winning ad's budget? Ship it. We trust the people we hire
  • In-house creative team that moves fast. Most buyers' biggest bottleneck is creative. Ours isn't. You'll work directly with the creative manager to brief and ship at the pace your testing demands
  • Full-stack visibility. You'll see the product roadmap, the LP performance data, the email retention numbers, the unit economics. You're not buying ads in a vacuum
  • Real growth path. This role can grow into Head of Growth, brand P&L ownership, or leading other buyers. We promote from within and we move fast when we see it
Why San Diego, why in-office

The majority of our growth team is in San Diego because the speed advantage of being in the room together is real when a campaign breaks at 3pm or a winner needs to be scaled tonight, the team is there. In office is strongly preferred, but exceptions will be considered for the perfect candidate.

What success looks like in 12 months
  • You're profitably managing over $1,500,000 per month across one or more of our brands
  • You've built a creative testing system the rest of the team adopts
  • You've identified and scaled multiple new winning angles and/or funnels that become category-defining bets for one of our brands
  • You're being considered for expanded P&L ownership or a leadership role on the growth team
