Job description

Duluth, GA (Onsite) | Aerospace & Avionics
9/80 Schedule Available - Every Other Friday Off
Electrical Engineers- Want to Design the Electronics Behind the Future of Flight?
At Universal Avionics, our engineers build advanced avionics systems that improve flight safety, situational awareness, and operational efficiency for aircraft around the world.
This is more than a circuit design role. This is an opportunity to work on highly reliable, safety-critical avionics systems where your engineering decisions directly impact real-world flight operations.
Most engineers never get to see their work operate in mission-critical environments at 40,000 feet. Here, you will.
We are seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to join our Hardware Engineering team and contribute to the full lifecycle development of advanced avionics hardware systems. This role offers the opportunity to work on complex electronic designs in a highly collaborative aerospace engineering environment.
What You'll Do:As an Electrical Engineer III, you will support the design, development, integration, and verification of avionics hardware systems and circuit card assemblies.
Key responsibilities include:
  • Designing and developing electronic circuitry and avionics hardware solutions.
  • Supporting conceptual designs, trade studies, and product feasibility assessments.
  • Developing schematics, board-level documentation, test procedures, and power estimates.
  • Supporting high-reliability designs with strong focus on design-for-test and safety-critical requirements.
  • Leading and participating in circuit card design reviews.
  • Collaborating closely with PCB Designers on multilayer board layouts.
  • Supporting integration, debugging, qualification, verification, and sustaining engineering activities.
  • Working within multidisciplinary engineering teams across the product lifecycle.

Why Engineers Love Working Here
  • Mission-Critical Engineering.
  • Design electronic systems used in real aircraft environments where performance, reliability, and precision matter.
  • Complex Technical Challenges.
  • Work across the full hardware development lifecycle- from conceptual design and trade studies through integration, qualification, verification, and sustaining engineering.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration.
  • Partner closely with Mechanical, Systems, Software, Reliability, Safety, Test, and Verification Engineering teams to deliver integrated avionics solutions.
  • Innovation with Stability.
  • Enjoy the agility and collaboration of a mid-sized engineering organization backed by the global strength of Elbit Systems.
  • Engineering Culture.
  • We value engineers who take ownership, think critically, collaborate effectively, and enjoy solving difficult technical challenges.
  • Modern Engineering Environment-our engineers work onsite in a collaborative engineering facility designed to support innovation, hands-on testing, focused technical work, and cross-functional problem solving.

How Success Is Measured:
  • Delivering reliable, high-quality hardware designs.
  • Demonstrating strong technical execution and engineering judgment.
  • Taking ownership of complex engineering assignments with minimal supervision.
  • Contributing effectively within integrated product development teams.
  • Supporting successful qualification and verification efforts.
  • Maintaining engineering rigor, documentation quality, and design reliability.
  • Solving problems efficiently in complex technical environments.

What We're Looking For:
  • Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, or related field.
  • 5+ years of hardware development experience (or equivalent non-degreed experience).
  • Experience with electronic circuit design and hardware development environments.
  • Strong debugging, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating across multidisciplinary teams.
  • Strong communication and technical documentation skills.
