Job Summary

ASPYRE of Waukegan is seeking a motivated and creative Activity Director to lead the planning and execution of engaging programs that enhance our residents’ quality of life. The Activity Director is responsible for creating a positive and welcoming environment where residents can remain active, engaged, and connected while supporting their social, mental, emotional, and physical well-being.

Responsibilities
  • Plan, organize, and oversee individual and group activities for residents.

  • Develop and maintain monthly and weekly activity calendars based on resident interests, abilities, and needs.

  • Lead and supervise activity staff, aides, and volunteers.

  • Encourage consistent resident participation and engagement in activities.

  • Maintain accurate activity documentation, attendance records, and resident assessments.

  • Coordinate special events, community outings, entertainment, and holiday programs.

  • Collaborate with nursing, therapy, social services, and other departments to support resident needs.

  • Organize activities that promote socialization, cognitive stimulation, physical activity, and emotional well-being.

  • Manage activity department supplies, inventory, and budget.

  • Maintain organized, safe, and engaging activity spaces.

  • Ensure activity programs and documentation comply with applicable state and federal regulations.

  • Build positive relationships with residents and their families.

  • Perform other duties as assigned by facility leadership.

Qualifications
  • Certified Activity Director required.

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; degree in Recreation Therapy or a related field preferred.
