Company description
Turner Duckworth is behind the brand identities for some of the world's most iconic brands. Chances are you know our work already. You'll find it on-shelf, online, on-the-go, in home, out of home and sometimes in your pocket. We build brands that are distinct, memorable, and have genuine personality, ones that are easy to understand but also intriguing, ones that tell a story or make you think. We help brands to become utterly distinctive and deeply embedded in culture. We define strategies, visual identities, assets, and expressions for how brands behave in any channel, at any time, in any market. As brand partners with over 30 years of experience, we believe that whatever you make, make it Like Nothing Else.
Turner Duckworth is looking for a Creative Director to join our New York team.
About You
You are an experienced creative leader who can inspire world-class work, build confidence with clients, and lead teams toward ideas that are strategically sharp, culturally relevant, and beautifully crafted. Internally, you demonstrate a proven ability to recognize and nurture potential. You lead work that consistently succeeds both commercially and critically. You are curious and inventive, and you share those qualities in others. Your direction is clear and concise, and you're able to suggest as well as you prescribe.
Externally, you understand our clients' challenges and objectives and you help generate strategic, creative solutions for them. You champion our work, knowing that only the best will ever be good enough, and you can deliver a persuasive argument to support it. You can answer any question or criticism with confidence and thoughtfulness. You're also a good, active listener that can adjust your mindset in support of a larger goal.
What You Bring

  • A strong creative point of view and the ability to translate strategic thinking into distinctive brand expression that is like nothing else
  • Proven experience leading integrated creative teams and guiding work from concept through execution
  • Exceptional taste, craft judgment, and attention to detail across identity systems, brand worlds, packaging, and art direction
  • Strong storytelling and presentation skills, including the ability to influence clients, senior stakeholders, and cross-functional teams
  • An ability to mentor, develop, and motivate creative talent across different levels and working styles
  • Confidence navigating multiple clients, projects, workstreams, timelines, and business priorities simultaneously
  • A collaborative mindset and the ability to partner effectively across strategy, account, production, and creative disciplines
  • Curiosity about emerging tools and technologies, including thoughtful integration of AI into the creative process while maintaining originality, quality, and craft

What You'll Do
  • Lead design teams at a brand and client level to deliver strategic, highly creative, and beautifully crafted design solutions
  • Set, articulate, and uphold the creative vision across projects, ensuring the work is distinctive, effective, and aligned to client business needs
  • Direct projects from concept through final execution, including creative sessions, critiques, selection, refinement, and presentation development
  • Guide, mentor, and develop creative teams to deliver excellent work and grow their skills
  • Confidently and effectively present to a range of audiences, including clients, senior stakeholders, large groups, and C-suite leaders
  • Partner closely with account, strategy, and creative teams to shape strong creative approaches and support effective, accurate proposals
  • Translate client objectives and challenges into compelling creative opportunities and solutions
  • Champion the work internally and externally, building persuasive rationale and responding to feedback with clarity and thoughtfulness
  • Help shape team resourcing, project planning, and creative workflow in partnership with leadership
  • Infuse cultural relevance, originality, and ambition into the work while maintaining a high bar for execution
  • Thoughtfully integrate AI tools and emerging technologies into the creative process where they enhance exploration, efficiency, or expression
