Job description

The Creative Manager leads the visual direction of Sun Peaks Resort and Sun Peaks Grand, shaping how one of Canadas leading mountain destinations comes to life across every season and guest touchpoint.

This is a hands-on creative leadership role with plenty of variety and influence. Youll lead and develop two direct reports, set the visual direction for major campaigns, provide creative direction for photography and video, collaborate with agency and freelance partners, and stay actively involved in design and creative production. The role is well suited to someone who has built broad creative experience, whether inhouse, at an agency or through leading a creative practice of their own.

Your work will span the full Sun Peaks experience, from destination campaigns and digital advertising to print, signage, photography, video and creative throughout the resort. With skiing, mountain biking, golf, events, hospitality and year-round experiences in the mix, no two projects are quite the same. Curiosity will serve you well here. Compensation Information: $80,000 per annum

Physical Requirement: Medium; work activities involve handling loads up to 20kg; both in an indoor and outdoor setting.

This job position requires physical presence at the designated location.

Skills you bring with you:

  • Post-secondary education in Graphic Design, Marketing, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of professional experience in graphic design, art direction, or creative management (tourism, resort, or hospitality experience preferred).
  • Demonstrated ability to lead creative teams while also executing hands-on design projects.
  • Strong proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, XD, After Effects, etc.) and other design tools.
  • Experience managing marketing services staff, freelancers, and external agencies.
  • Proven ability to oversee end-to-end creative production across digital, print, video, and 4-walls applications.
  • Excellent project management and organizational skills; ability to juggle multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Strong understanding of brand identity, creative storytelling, and visual communications.
  • Exceptional communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work across departments.
  • Experience coordinating with print and production vendors, including file prep and prepress standards.
  • Familiarity with shared services or multi-property brand structures is an asset.
  • A passion for outdoor recreation (ski, snowboard, bike, golf) is considered an asset.
  • A valid driver's license.

Primary Responsibilities:

Creative Leadership & Execution

  • Lead the creation, production, and delivery of all SPR and SPG marketing visuals across digital, print, video, and in-resort/4-walls applications.
  • Own the development and execution of brand-aligned creative assets, from campaign concepts to final production.
  • Provide hands-on design support, executing day-to-day graphic design tasks.
  • Guide creative direction for seasonal campaigns, ensuring cohesion across all platforms and channels.

Team Management & Development

  • Management of coordinators and specialists, assigning tasks, mentoring, and developing their skills to ensure high-quality output.
  • Oversee the relationship with an external design agency, managing deliverables, creative consistency, and cost efficiency.
  • Foster a collaborative, innovative, and accountable culture within the creative team.
  • Provide feedback, mentorship, and professional development opportunities for contributors.

Brand Stewardship

  • Enforce consistent application of brand design standards, visual identity guidelines, and logo usage for SPR and SPG.
  • Ensure all creative assets reflect the organizations commitment to quality, inclusivity, and innovation.
  • Collaborate with the Brand & Communications Manager, who oversees brand tone and reputation, to ensure cohesive messaging and visuals.

Marketing & Campaign Support

  • Support the Director of Marketing in developing campaign creative, aligning with revenue goals and strategic priorities.
  • Collaborate with Marketing and Communications teams to ensure campaign visuals integrate seamlessly with storytelling and messaging.
  • Coordinate closely with the Director of Events & Partnerships to deliver creative assets for event marketing campaigns.
  • Manage creative support for in-resort/4-walls marketing (e.g., signage, posters, retail displays, menus, digital displays).

Vendor & Production Oversight

  • Provide strategic oversight of print vendors, signage companies, and production partners, ensuring quality, consistency, and alignment with brand standards.
  • Delegate day-to-day vendor coordination and production management to Marketing Services Specialists, while maintaining responsibility for overall creative quality and budget alignment.
  • Manage freelance designers, photographers, and other external creative contributors as required.

Reporting & Analytics

  • Provide regular creative project updates and reporting to the Director of Marketing and other stakeholders as required.
  • Track workflow, deliverables, and outcomes to monitor efficiency and campaign impact.
  • Apply reporting insights to guide creative iteration and campaign development, ensuring that design approaches evolve with audience needs and performance results.
