Job description

About the Role

As a Sr. Copywriter, you define the creative concept and verbal direction for assigned client work while elevating the writing quality of the team. You partner closely with Art Directors, Creative Directors, and account teams to set the messaging and tone for branding, integrated campaigns, videos, and other client work, making sure the words work as hard as the visuals.

This role is ideal for someone who leads with concept and stays hands-on with the craft. You think in terms of messaging frameworks and verbal identity systems, but you're just as comfortable writing the headline, script, or line of copy yourself. You serve as a quality gate for written creative, pushing work past safe choices rather than simply checking it for errors.

As AI continues to change how creative teams work, you use it to accelerate concept exploration, research, and draft variation while recognizing that tone, wit, emotional precision, and the instinct for what a specific audience needs to hear right now remain uniquely human skills that define great creative work.

Responsibilities

Here are some, but not necessarily all, of your responsibilities:

  • Define creative concept and direction. In partnership with Art Directors, you co-create the concepts that guide campaign and asset development, defining creative direction for assigned client accounts. Especially for complex initiatives like integrated campaigns, video productions, and multi-channel programs.
  • Translate strategy into messaging. You translate brand strategy into compelling, consistent, and executable messaging frameworks and verbal identity systems.
  • Stay hands-on with the craft. You write, craft, and direct headlines, video scripts, and other copy across campaigns, brand work, digital experiences, social, video, and integrated programs that bring concepts to life.
  • Serve as a quality gate. You review copy and provide direction on assigned accounts, ensuring every deliverable meets the standard before it reaches the client - while actively pushing the work past safe choices and elevating it creatively.
  • Mentor and develop writers. You develop the craft of copywriters and other creatives on the team, providing sharp, clear critiques that build skill and push the team toward better writing and conceptual work.
  • Present with confidence. You present creative concepts and messaging strategy to clients with a clear rationale, defending strong writing decisions while remaining open to feedback that improves the work.
  • Leverage AI thoughtfully. You use AI for concept exploration, research acceleration, draft variation generation, and message testing, understanding that AI can handle volume, but voice, tone, and the judgment of what will land with a specific audience remain human skills.

What You'll Need

  • 5+ years of experience in copywriting, with a portfolio that shows range across campaigns, brand work, video, and digital
  • Demonstrated experience leading creative concepts from strategy through execution, not just writing to a brief
  • Strong conceptual thinking with a natural bent toward messaging, tone, voice, and verbal identity
  • Experience partnering with Art Directors and Creative Directors to develop integrated, multi-channel creative
  • A track record of mentoring or reviewing the work of other writers, with the ability to give sharp, directional feedback
  • Confidence presenting creative concepts and messaging rationale directly to clients
  • Experience working in an agency environment across multiple client brands and industries simultaneously
  • Comfort using AI tools for concept exploration, research, and draft variation, paired with the judgment to know what still needs a human hand
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills, with the flexibility to adjust direction quickly as strategy or client feedback shifts
  • Healthcare and/or regulated industry experience is a plus

  • Collaborative team environment: Your voice is important, and we believe the best projects include contributions from everyone.
