Shift: Per Diem, Various Days and Shifts

Job Description

Creative Arts Therapist is a person who holds a Master's Degree in art, music, drama, or dance therapy. A creative arts therapist is responsible for providing a variety of therapeutic services to a diverse population using art, music, movement and/or drama to enhance the emotional and mental wellbeing of individuals. As a member of therapeutic services, a creative arts therapist is also responsible for the assessment, treatment planning and documentation of the assigned clients as part of the interdisciplinary treatment team.

Job Responsibility

1.Participate in the interdisciplinary treatment team meeting and development of the treatment plan as it relates to the use of creative arts and therapeutic rehabilitation services. 

2.Demonstrate competency in use of materials/modalities to facilitate self-expression, to facilitate healing and enhance function. 

3.Demonstrates professional competency in group, individual therapies. 

4.Assists with department Performance Improvement activities 

  • Identifies areas of needed training and development specific to the Creative Arts practice. 

5.Demonstrates awareness of evidence based practices in creative arts and related fields. 

6.Performs related duties, as required.

Job Qualification

  • Master's Degree in Creative Arts Therapy 
  • New York State license required or limited permit 
  • Completed an internship in a behavioral health setting, or previous work experience in a behavioral health setting.
