Job description

Replit is the agentic software creation platform that enables anyone to build applications using natural language. With millions of users worldwide, Replit is democratizing software development by removing traditional barriers to application creation.
Team
Brand & Creative defines how Replit shows up in the world and leads the creative work that brings it to market. It sets the brand direction at a company level and drives the planning and execution of creative across product, marketing, and major company initiatives. The function operates as both strategic authority and creative leadership, ensuring a clear, consistent, and high-quality expression of Replit across every touchpoint.
To deliver this, the department operates across three focused creative streams:
  • System: Defines the visual and verbal brand system and ensures consistency across core surfaces and touchpoints.
  • Scale: Drives reach, adaptation, and repeatable brand expression across ongoing and growth-oriented work.
  • Story: Shapes perception and meaning through launches, campaigns, and key brand moments.

Supporting these streams, Creative Services delivers in-house audio-visual production. External agencies and production partners provide additional specialized support.
Role
The Brand & Creative Art Lead is responsible for defining, shaping, and scaling how Replit looks across the company.
The role oversees the development and application of visual identity, design systems, and creative direction across System, Scale, Story, and Services. Reporting directly to the Executive Creative Director, who leads Brand & Creative at a company level, this role ensures Replit is expressed with clarity, consistency, and quality across all major touchpoints.
As the art lead for the department, this role defines the visual standard and creative direction across all work and focuses on concept, art direction, and visual judgment-guiding teams and partners, while contributing hands-on design and direction across key moments and high-impact work.
Responsibilities
  • Define and evolve the Replit visual identity and overall design and art direction
  • Set the visual standard across campaigns, product, growth, and brand work
  • Translate strategy into strong visual ideas, concepts, and directions
  • Guide visual expression across System, Scale, Story, and Services
  • Lead art direction across campaigns, launches, and key brand moments
  • Partner closely with Strategy, Copy, Product, and Marketing to develop integrated creative work
  • Direct and critique work from internal designers and external agencies to ensure quality and alignment
  • Partner with external agencies, studios, and production partners on concept and execution
  • Contribute hands-on design and art direction across key initiatives and moments that define the brand
  • Present and defend creative work to leadership and stakeholders
  • Establish principles and guardrails that maintain consistency while allowing creative range
  • Maintain a high bar for taste, craft, and originality across all outputs

Requirements
  • 7-9+ years of experience in art direction, brand design, or campaign-driven creative roles at a top-tier creative agency or equivalent environment
  • Strong portfolio showcasing concept-driven campaigns and high-quality visual work
  • Proven ability to develop and lead visual ideas from concept through execution
  • Strong art direction skills across film, digital, social, and experiential
  • Experience defining and evolving visual identity systems at scale
  • Ability to translate strategy into clear, compelling visual direction
  • Experience working across brand, product, and marketing teams
  • Experience working with external agencies, studios, and production partners
  • Strong creative judgment and taste, with a clear point of view
  • Ability to both lead creative direction and contribute hands-on design when needed
  • Strong presentation and communication skills, including working with senior leadership

This is a full-time role that can be held from our Foster City, CA office. The role has an in-office requirement of Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.
