Job description

Job Title: Religious Education Assistant, Part-time (20 hrs./wk.)

Reports to: DRE/CRE/Pastor/Business Manager

Location: Our Lady of Angels Parish |Lakewood Ranch, FL

Classification: Hourly/Nonexempt

Overview

This position provides administrative support to Religious Education in a very busy Parish, with particular focus on Youth Group/Ministry. 20 hours per week; primarily Tuesdays and Wednesdays 3pm - 8pm with some as needed hours on Saturdays & Sundays at the direction of the CRE/DRE as the youth program grows.

JobResponsibilities

  • Communicate with students, parents, catechists, and staff as needed.
  • Assist the Assistant DRE with the input registrations to ParishSoft for Rel Ed, OCIA and Sacramental programs specifically related to youth group programs such as but not limited to the Sacrament of Confirmation.
  • Maintain the daily/weekly/monthly agenda and help arrange events specific to Youth Group/Ministry activities.
  • Assist DRE/CRE/ with development and implementation of policies and practices.
  • Assist with organizing and coordinating all Youth Group/Ministry programs & activities for Middle School through High School age groups. Including assisting the CRE/DRE with the sacramental preparation for the Sacrament of Confirmation.
  • Assist with annual summer programs of, but not limited to, Totus Tuus, VBS and summer camp and enrichment programs for the youth of the parish.
  • Travel to DOV meetings, summer programs and continuing education programs.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Must be Roman Catholic
  • Basiccomputer skills including knowledge of Microsoft Suite and excel
  • 2-3 years of office experience
  • Excellent organizational & communication skills in order to work with clergy and lay staff, parents and youth of the parish.
  • Must be available for weekend activities as needed.
  • Must be able to clear a FBI Level II background check
