Veterinary Technician - ICU
Heart of Texas
Round Rock, TX
Schedule (full-time): 3 day , 12 hour shift 7am-7:30pm , including one weekend day
Compensation is negotiable based on experience and credentials, with an expected starting range of $ 25 - $ 27 / hour . The actual rate will carefully consider a wide range of factors including your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
About You
If you love critical care and being part of a tight-knit team, you'll feel right at home in our ICU. You'll help closely monitor hospitalized patients, support stabilization, place IVs, manage fluids/CRIs, provide oxygen support, administer treatments, and assist with in-house diagnostics.
Your Experience & Skills
Job Requirements:
  • At least 3 years of recent experience in veterinary practice (ER/ICU or specialty preferred)
  • Comfortable with ICU patient monitoring and hospitalized nursing care (treatment sheets, I&O, post-op monitoring)
  • Excellent communication skills in a fast-paced ICU/ER environment
  • Credentialed Veterinary Technician (LVT/CVT/RVT) preferred
  • Proficiency with core ICU technical skills: IV catheter placement, venipuncture, medication administration, oxygen therapy, and in-house diagnostics
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Willing to work on weekends and holidays

Role Responsibilities ( include but are not limited to) :
  • Assess and monitor ICU patients; trend vitals/pain/perfusion and report changes fast
  • Place and maintain IV catheters; perform blood draws and sample collection
  • Set up and manage fluids and CRIs as directed
  • Calculate and administer medications and treatments (IV/IM/SQ/PO)
  • Provide respiratory support and oxygen therapy; assist with advanced support as needed
  • Support emergencies and stabilization; stay CPR- and crash-cart ready
  • Run/support diagnostics and monitoring (in-house lab, ECG, BP) and imaging as needed
  • Provide inpatient nursing care and complete timely charting and logs
