Job description

Traffic Analysis Engineer – Houston, Texas

Garver is seeking a highly‑motivated Traffic Analysis Engineer to add to our growing traffic and transportation planning team in Houston, TX. The ideal candidate will have 5‑10 years of related experience, a strong technical background, and passion for the profession. This role will be supervised by a Senior Project Manager and offers outstanding growth opportunity and career advancement.

Responsibilities
  • Perform traffic and safety studies
  • Conduct traffic simulation and level of service analysis
  • Develop access management plans and lane configurations for new or modified alignments
  • Create traffic signal timing plans
  • Prepare summary documentation and reports
  • Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams and communicate concepts to clients
Additional Duties
  • Assist with project management to identify scopes, fees, and monitor progress
  • Track budgets and keep projects on schedule, maintaining a client‑focused, service attitude
  • Prepare project proposals and participate in project pursuits
  • Engage in direct client marketing and develop relationships within service area
  • Mentor less experienced staff
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree from an ABET accredited engineering program
  • 4‑8 years of experience with traffic‑specific projects
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire
  • Working knowledge of the Highway Capacity Manual and Trip Generation Manual
  • Experience in capacity analysis, traffic projections, and safety analysis (including HSM)
  • Proficiency in traffic simulation programs (VISSIM, CORSIM, etc.), Synchro, and HCS
  • Experience analyzing intersections, interchanges, and roundabouts
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in civil engineering
  • Experience in transportation planning and travel demand modeling (TransCAD)
  • Experience using ArcGIS for data analysis, including review of large crash data sets for trend and cluster analysis
  • Experience with pedestrian and bicycle improvement projects and studies
  • Experience with marketing and managing local government projects
  • Experience working with MODOT and municipalities in Missouri
  • Certification as a PTOE and/or RSP
