Job description

Garver is seeking a highly-motivated Traffic Analysis Engineer in our Dallas, TX office to add to our growing traffic and transportation planning team. The ideal candidate would have 5-10 years of related experience, a sharp technical background, and strong passion for the profession. The position will offer the candidate an opportunity to play a key role in analyzing and designing exciting projects for our DOT and municipal clients across our client footprint.
Applicants must have excellent communication skills with a commitment to becoming a key member of this highly productive design team. This position will be supervised by a Senior Project Manager and offers outstanding growth opportunity and career advancement to the right individual.
The ideal candidate will be responsible for the following:
  • Performing traffic and safety studies
  • Performing traffic simulation and level of service analysis
  • Developing access management plans and lane configurations for new or modified alignments
  • Developing traffic signal timing plans
  • Preparing summary documentation and reports
  • Coordinating with multi-disciplinary teams and communicating concepts to clients

Additional duties include:
  • Assisting with project management to identify project scopes, fees, and monitoring project progress.
  • Maintaining a client-focused, service attitude by tracking budgets, and keeping projects on schedule.
  • Preparing project proposals and giving interviews for project pursuits
  • Performing direct client marketing and developing relationships with existing clients within our service area
  • Mentoring less experienced staff

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree for an ABET accredited engineering program
  • 4 - 8 years of experience with traffic specific projects
  • Must have excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Must be licensed as a Professional Engineer (PE) or have ability to obtain within 6 months of hire
  • Working knowledge of the Highway Capacity Manual & Trip Generation Manual is required
  • Working knowledge in capacity analysis, traffic projections, and safety analysis (including HSM) is required
  • Working knowledge of traffic simulation programs (VISSIM, CORSIM, etc.), Synchro, and HCS is required
  • Experience in analyzing intersections, interchanges, and roundabouts
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in civil engineering
  • Experience in Transportation planning and travel demand modeling (TransCAD)
  • Experience using ArcGIS for data analysis including review of large sets of crash data to spatial map and analyze for trends and clusters.
  • Experience with pedestrian and bicycle improvement projects and studies
  • Experience in marketing and managing local government projects
  • Experience working with MODOT and municipalities in Missouri
  • Certification as a PTOE and/or RSP
