Description:

Stabbert Maritime/Stabbert Offshore is a Seattle-based maritime company focused on providing unique maritime solutions for its customers. The Company is currently looking for an experienced Crane Operator

We are seeking a highly skilled Crane Operator to operate a Manitowoc 4100 lattice-boom crawler crane installed on the back deck of one of our vessels. This role requires extensive hands-on experience with friction-controlled (clutch and brake) crane systems and a strong background in marine or shoreside heavy lift operations. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated expertise performing complex lifts in marine environments, including barge- and deck-based operations, and will bring a strong commitment to safety, precision, and teamwork.

Key Responsibilities

  • Safely operate a friction-controlled lattice-boom crawler crane in accordance with manufacturer guidelines and site-specific lift plans
  • Perform heavy lifts in marine environments, including operations on barges, back decks, shipyards, and waterfront facilities
  • Coordinate closely with rigging crews, deck personnel, and supervisors to execute complex and blind lifts
  • Manage crane functions using clutch-and-brake controls, including proper drum, brake, and load control techniques
  • Conduct pre-operational inspections and identify mechanical or safety issues
  • Assist with crane setup, configuration, and breakdown as required
  • Maintain situational awareness of deck movement, wind, load dynamics, and surrounding personnel
  • Adhere to all safety policies, marine regulations, and project-specific procedures
Requirements:

Qualifications

  • Minimum 8–10 years of experience operating lattice-boom crawler cranes
  • Extensive hands-on experience with friction-controlled crane systems (clutch and brake)
  • Proven experience operating cranes in marine, shipyard, tug-and-barge, or heavy waterfront construction environments
  • Strong understanding of load charts, rigging practices, and heavy lift planning
  • Demonstrated ability to safely control loads in dynamic conditions (wind, vessel movement, restricted visibility)
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • Strong safety record

Preferred Skills & Certifications

  • Experience operating Manitowoc 4100, or similar friction cranes (e.g., Manitowoc 3900/4600, Bucyrus-Erie, American, Lima)
  • NCCCO Lattice Boom Crawler Crane certification (or equivalent)
  • MMC/TWIC card
  • Prior experience working from barges or floating platforms
  • Familiarity with marine construction, shipyard operations, or heavy industrial waterfront projects
