Outside Sales Representative position at our Skokie, IL location.

Role Description

Nation’s Best is seeking a full-time Outside Sales Representative (OSR) based at Crafty Beaver Home Centers in Skokie, IL. This is a primarily field-based role, with approximately 80% of time spent in the field and 20% at the store.

The OSR is responsible for driving lumber and building material sales by developing and maintaining strong relationships with contractors, builders, and remodelers. This role focuses on prospecting, job site visits, account growth, and providing consultative support to customers, including product selection, new product updates, market trends, pricing, and delivery coordination.

The OSR will prepare bids, complete take-offs and estimates as needed, input orders, assist with accounts receivable collections, and collaborate closely with store and operations teams to ensure excellent service and follow-through. Success in this role requires strong field presence, disciplined account management, and consistent achievement of sales goals.


Qualifications

  • Proven experience in outside sales, account management, or relationship-based selling
  • Strong communication, negotiation, and presentation skills
  • Experience in construction, building materials, hardware, and home improvement
  • Experience preparing take-offs, estimates, and bids 
  • Self-motivated, organized, and effective at managing time in a field-based role
  • Results-oriented with the ability to serve customers with humility and steward Nation’s Best’s values
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with shifting priorities
  • Willingness to travel locally approximately 80% of the time
  • Must have valid driver’s license and clean Motor Vehicle Record (MVR)
  • High school diploma required; bachelor’s degree is a plus

Compensation & Benefits

The OSR role is compensated through a base salary plus uncapped commission, with commission paid monthly, and includes a monthly car and phone allowance.
