What are Craftsman Apprentices?

Craftsman apprentices are individuals who are learning a skilled trade or craft under the guidance of experienced craftspeople. They typically participate in hands-on training, combined with classroom instruction, to gain the practical skills and theoretical knowledge needed for their chosen field. Apprenticeships can be found in a variety of areas such as carpentry, plumbing, masonry, or electrical work. The goal is for the apprentice to become proficient enough to work independently as a certified craftsman upon completion of the program.

What can I expect from the mentorship and training process as a Craftsman Apprentice?

As a Craftsman Apprentice, you will typically work under the guidance of experienced craftsmen who provide hands-on instruction and regular feedback. The mentorship process usually involves learning foundational techniques, understanding the safe use of tools, and gradually taking on more complex tasks as your skills improve. You'll often rotate between different projects to gain broad exposure and may attend formal training sessions or workshops. This supportive learning environment is designed to help you build confidence, develop technical proficiency, and prepare for a future independent craftsman role.

What jobs make 10000 a month without a degree?

Certain high-paying trades and skilled roles such as commercial electricians, specialized construction managers, or experienced craftsmen can earn around $10,000 per month without a college degree. These jobs often require apprenticeships, certifications, or extensive experience, and typically involve physically demanding work or specialized skills. Success in these fields depends on skill level, reputation, and the complexity of projects handled.

What is an apprentice craftsman?

An apprentice craftsman is someone learning a skilled trade through a structured training program under the supervision of experienced workers. This typically involves hands-on work, mentorship, and may include earning certifications or completing a set number of training hours before becoming a journeyman or fully qualified craftsman.

Is 27 too old for an apprenticeship?

For a Craftsman Apprentice, age is generally not a barrier; many apprenticeships welcome individuals of various ages, including those in their late 20s. Success depends on skills, motivation, and commitment to learning trades such as carpentry, plumbing, or electrical work, often involving hands-on training and certifications. Age should not deter someone from pursuing an apprenticeship if they are eager to develop craftsmanship skills and meet program requirements.

What is the highest paying apprenticeship trade?

Among apprenticeship trades, skilled trades such as elevator constructors, power plant operators, and union electricians tend to have the highest wages. These roles often require specialized skills, certifications, and sometimes longer training periods, leading to higher earning potential compared to other apprenticeships.

Job description

DELIVER SOLUTIONS THAT MATTER.

EVERY EXPERT STARTED SOMEWHERE.

Start here. Build something real.

DuraServ is looking for mechanically-minded problem-solvers ready to learn a trade, earn while they grow, and build a career with their hands.

This Is Where a Trade Career Begins.

DuraServ installs, services, and maintains the commercial dock and door systems that keep warehouses, distribution centers, and industrial facilities running. Behind every system that works flawlessly is a technician who knew what to look for — and fixed it right the first time.

As a Technician Apprentice, you won't be watching from the sideline. You'll be on the job, learning from experienced technicians, getting hands-on with mechanical and electrical systems, and building the skills that define a career in the trades. DuraServ's ADVANCE training program gives you a structured path to grow — and the income keeps coming while you do it.

If you're mechanically curious, physically capable, and ready to work for something you can be proud of — this is your starting point.

What You'll Do

Learn the Craft

  • Assist with the installation, service, and maintenance of commercial dock and door equipment under the direct guidance of experienced technicians
  • Participate in basic mechanical and electrical troubleshooting tasks — rolling doors, sectional doors, levelers, and dock equipment
  • Learn to safely use hand tools, power tools, and basic fabrication equipment to support installation and repair tasks
  • Study and apply technical manuals, wiring diagrams, and documentation alongside experienced teammates

Build the Standard

  • Maintain a safe, clean job site and follow all OSHA safety protocols, PPE requirements, and fall protection standards
  • Document service activities accurately — work performed, parts used, observations — building habits that define a professional technician
  • Develop customer communication skills by assisting in job status updates and explaining service needs clearly and professionally
  • Participate in the ADVANCE training program daily, completing required coursework and demonstrating learned skills on the job

Who You Are

You don't need to know everything yet. You need the right instincts, the work ethic to show up every day, and the drive to get better than you were yesterday.

  • Mechanically curious — you take things apart to understand them, and you're not satisfied until you know why something works
  • Safety-conscious — you follow protocols without cutting corners, because you understand that safety isn't a suggestion on a job site
  • A learner — you absorb feedback, apply it, and come back the next day sharper than before
  • Physically capable — comfortable with frequent standing, bending, ladder use, and lifting up to 50 pounds regularly
  • Reliable and professional — your conduct on the job site represents DuraServ as much as your technical skill
  • A team player — you assist lead technicians, adapt to shifting priorities, and pull your weight without being asked

Education & Experience

Required

  • Valid, current state-issued driver's license — you'll be traveling to customer sites daily
  • Ability to meet physical demands: frequent standing, bending, ladder use, and lifting up to 50 pounds regularly
  • Willingness to participate in DuraServ's ADVANCE training program

Preferred

  • High School Diploma or equivalent — trade school certificate or diploma accepted and valued
  • Background or exposure to welding, mechanical systems, hydraulics, or electrical work
  • No dock and door experience required — we will train the right person from the ground up

What's in It for You
  • Competitive hourly pay from day one — you earn while you learn
  • Structured advancement through the ADVANCE training program — your career progression is defined, not vague
  • Full benefits package: medical, dental, vision, and 401K with company match
  • Company-provided life insurance, short-term and long-term disability
  • Premium tools, paid training, and manufacturer certifications — we invest in your development
  • A team of experienced technicians who take mentorship seriously and take pride in building the next generation of the trade
  • Autonomy as you grow — the better you get, the more you own

A Note to the Right Candidate.

If you've been looking for a career — not just a job — one where what you build with your hands matters and your work has a visible impact every single day, the trades are where that happens. And DuraServ is where that career starts.

Deliver solutions that matter. Start here.

APPLY NOW — No Experience Required. Drive Is.
