This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys hands-on work, takes pride in craftsmanship, and wants to learn a skilled trade!


Position Purpose

The Workroom Apprentice is a hands-on training position designed to develop the skills needed to safely and accurately

fabricate custom runners, area rugs, and other flooring products. The apprentice will work alongside experienced team

members to learn measuring, cutting, binding, finishing, and quality-control techniques with the goal of becoming an

independent and productive member of the workroom team.


What You Will Learn & Do

• Learn how to measure and cut carpet and flooring materials to specified dimensions.

• Learn how to cut down carpet to create custom runners and area rugs.

• Train on binding machines and proper techniques for finishing edges.

• Read and follow work orders, measurements, and fabrication instructions.

• Inspect materials before fabrication and completed products before release.

• Develop clean, accurate cutting and consistent professional-quality binding.

• Assist with staging materials, packaging completed orders, and workroom organization.

• Learn to minimize material waste, errors, and remakes.

• Follow all safety procedures and learn the proper use of workroom tools and equipment.

What We Are Looking For

• No previous workroom or fabrication experience required - we will train the right person.

• Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn.

• Basic math and measurement skills, including fractions.

• Dependable, punctual, and able to follow instructions.

• Comfortable working with hand tools, machinery, and flooring materials.

• Able to accept coaching and feedback and work effectively as part of a team.

• Able to safely perform the physical requirements of a workroom/fabrication environment.


What Success Looks Like

Success in this role means demonstrating steady improvement in safety, accuracy, quality, and productivity. Over time, the

apprentice should progress toward independently measuring, cutting, binding, finishing, and inspecting standard runners and area rugs with minimal supervision.
