Job description

Overview

The Senior Craft Recruiter will be responsible to execute full life cycle craft recruiting and employment activities including onboarding, performance assessments, disciplinary actions and transfer coordination. Tasks will include but are not limited to creating and managing requisitions including: assess job specification criteria, identify screening questions and determine candidate interview approach, interview potential candidates as well as gather and consolidate feedback from interview and complete interview elevation documentation; negotiate job offer details with candidate. Senior Craft Recruiter must identify and stay current on market trends in the marketplace that impact ability to support project staffing.

This is a remote position, which can be based anywhere in the U.S. This position supports our business across the United States. This position does require 25% travel throughout the United States.

Responsibilities
Training and Development 
  • Develop training materials – Create manuals, guides, e-learning content, and onboarding materials for recruiting teams.
  • Conduct training sessions – Lead workshops or coaching sessions on sourcing, interviewing, candidate engagement, ATS use, and compliance.
  • Assess recruiter performance – Monitor trainees’ progress and provide feedback or additional coaching.
  • Standardize recruiting processes – Ensure consistent use of recruiting tools, scripts, and best practices.
  • Stay updated on trends – Keep up with current recruiting technologies, DEI hiring practices, and labor market changes.
  • Collaborate with leadership – Work with HR or recruiting managers to identify skill gaps and design training accordingly.
  • Evaluate training effectiveness – Collect feedback, track metrics (e.g., time-to-fill, quality of hire), and adjust programs.
 Full-Cycle Recruiting
  • Lead full-cycle recruitment for skilled craft positions across wind and solar construction projects (e.g., electricians, millwrights, turbine techs, solar installers).
  • Manage sourcing, screening, interviewing, and job offers to ensure project staffing targets are met on time and within budget.
 Sourcing & Outreach
  • Develop and execute sourcing strategies to attract qualified craft workers from diverse sources (job boards, trade schools, unions, referrals, social media, etc.).
  • Build relationships with trade schools, apprenticeship programs, and veteran transition programs to create pipelines of talent.
  • Maintain and grow a network of pre-vetted craft talent for quick mobilization.
 Workforce Planning
  • Collaborate with project managers, site managers, and workforce planners to forecast labor needs across multiple wind and solar sites.
  • Prioritize hiring based on project timelines, site readiness, and trade-specific demand.
 Candidate Experience & Compliance
  • Ensure a positive candidate experience by providing timely updates and clear communication throughout the hiring process.
  • Ensure all hiring practices are compliant with company policies, industry safety standards, EEO, and OFCCP guidelines.
  • Coordinate pre-employment requirements such as drug screens, background checks, and certifications (e.g., OSHA 10/30, NCCER, CPR).
 Process & Technology Management
  • Maintain accurate candidate records in Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS) and project tracking tools.
  • Generate recruiting reports (e.g., fill times, source effectiveness, diversity metrics).
  • Recommend and implement process improvements to optimize craft recruiting workflows.
 Project Support
  • Support on-site mobilization and onboarding efforts during peak project ramps.
  • Partner with HR, Safety, and Field Operations teams to ensure smooth workforce integration.
  • Travel to project sites only per request and approved by Sr. Craft Recruiting Manager for hiring events, job fairs, or onboarding support.
 Team Leadership & Mentorship
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to junior recruiters or recruiting coordinators.
  • Represent the recruiting team in cross-functional project meetings.
 
Qualifications

EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

Sr Craft Recruiter III

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • Minimum of 3-5 years’ experience, construction industry experience preferred
  • Ability to travel up to 10%, for career fair and other recruiting efforts may be required.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

  • Take reasonable care of your own and others’ health and safety and of those who may be affected by the day-to-day delivery of this role by taking personal responsibility for working toward the company’s Zero Injury principles
  • Exceptional prioritization and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects at once
  • Experience with iCIMS, UKG and/or Service Now is a plus
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office
  • Strong attention to detail while operating with a high sense of urgency
  • Intermediate sourcing, interviewing, and negotiation skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills along with a penchant towards metrics
  • Experience recruiting talent in competitive markets
  • Decisive ability to shift priorities and function effectively in a dynamic fast paced work culture
  • Ability to interact and build strong relationships with multiple levels of management
  • Effectively communicate to multiple levels of the organization and internal HR team
