Join us as our Arts & Crafts Coordinator and help campers bring their ideas to life.Position SummaryThe Arts and Crafts Coordinator designs, organizes, and leads an engaging arts and crafts program that promotes creativity, inclusivity, and self-expression for all campers at Jay Nolan Summer Camp. This role includes planning activities, managing materials, and ensuring compliance with American Camp Association (ACA) standards. You will support campers ages 8-15, including neurodiverse youth, by fostering confidence, creativity, and a positive camp experience.
Key ResponsibilitiesPlanning & Organization- Create and implement a varied schedule of arts and crafts activities for all skill levels.
- Coordinate with camp leadership to integrate sessions smoothly into the camp schedule.
- Adapt projects to meet diverse camper needs and ensure accessibility.
Material Procurement & Management- Source, organize, and maintain all art materials and tools.
- Track inventory, ensure proper storage, and account for supplies at season's end.
- Work with leadership to manage the arts and crafts budget and prioritize cost-effective purchasing.
Leadership & Facilitation- Lead fun, engaging sessions that encourage creativity and skill development.
- Provide clear instructions, demonstrations, and ongoing support during activities.
- Foster a positive, inclusive environment that values creativity and respect.
Safety & ACA Compliance- Maintain a safe workspace by following ACA standards and camp safety policies.
- Conduct safety briefings before using tools or materials.
- Monitor camper participation and address safety concerns promptly.
Collaboration & Integration- Partner with other activity coordinators to align projects with camp themes and goals.
- Assist with other camp activities as needed to support overall camp operations.
Evaluation & Feedback- Reflect on program effectiveness and identify improvements for future seasons.
- Participate in post-camp evaluations to enhance next year's program.
Qualifications- Experience planning and leading arts and crafts activities, especially with youth.
- Familiarity with ACA safety and supervision standards.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage schedules and materials.
- Enthusiasm for supporting youth in an outdoor environment.
- Commitment to cultural diversity and supporting neurodiverse campers.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Compassion, patience, and adaptability to meet individual camper needs.
- High school diploma required; related college coursework or degree preferred.
- CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain before camp).
