Job description

Janitor
Must be detail-oriented, flexible, and willing to take on non-routine cleaning and special projects as the need arises. Will be responsible for cleaning and sanitizing offices, meeting rooms, bathrooms, kitchen and dining room and public areas. Other duties may be assigned.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Clean building floors by sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, or vacuuming them.
  • Gather and empty trash.
  • Service, cleaning, and supply restrooms.
  • Clean, dust, and polish furniture and fixtures.
  • Clean windows, glass partitions, and mirrors, using soapy water or other cleaners, sponges, and squeegees.
  • Mix water and detergents or acids in containers to prepare cleaning solutions, according to specifications.
  • Drive vehicles required to perform or travel to cleaning work, including vans, industrial trucks, or industrial vacuum cleaners.
  • Follow procedures for the use of chemical cleaners and power equipment, to prevent damage to floors and fixtures.
  • Monitor building security and safety by performing such tasks as locking doors after operating hours and checking electrical appliance use to ensure that hazards are not created.
  • Notify managers concerning the need for major repairs or additions to building operating systems.
  • Requisition supplies and equipment needed for cleaning and maintenance duties.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to have full range of mobility in upper and lower body, able to reach overhead, able to work in various positions, including, but not limited to, stooping, standing, bending over, sitting, kneeling, squatting; use hands to handle, or feel objects; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance for extended periods of time.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications Required for this Position:
Education - no minimum education requirements.
Experience - Janitorial experience, preferred.
Must pass a Pre-employment Physical, Drug test and a background check.
