What is a craft manager?

A Craft Manager is a professional responsible for overseeing skilled trades or craft workers on construction or industrial projects. They coordinate the activities of electricians, plumbers, carpenters, welders, and other trades to ensure work is completed safely, on time, and to quality standards. Craft Managers handle scheduling, resource allocation, and compliance with safety regulations. They also serve as a liaison between workers, contractors, and project managers to ensure effective communication and project success.

How does a craft manager typically collaborate with different trades and project stakeholders on a construction site?

A Craft Manager plays a key role in coordinating multiple trades, such as electricians, plumbers, and carpenters, to ensure smooth project execution. They regularly communicate with project managers, foremen, and subcontractors to align schedules, resolve on-site issues, and maintain safety and quality standards. This collaboration often involves daily briefings, progress tracking, and proactive problem-solving to minimize delays and conflicts between trades. Effective communication and organizational skills are essential, as the Craft Manager serves as a vital link between field teams and upper management.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a craft manager, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Craft Manager, you need a solid background in construction management, trade-specific expertise, and often a degree in construction or a related field. Familiarity with project management software, scheduling tools, and safety regulations like OSHA certification is typically required. Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills help you effectively oversee craft teams and coordinate with other project stakeholders. These competencies ensure projects are completed safely, on time, and to quality standards while maintaining team morale and compliance.

  • Coordinate with the supply chain team to ensure warehouses and bulk malt transload locations are appropriately stocked to meet customer demand.
  • Utilize CRM systems to track opportunities and maintain accurate records of existing and prospective customers.
  • Work with regional and global Craft Commercial teams to develop strategies that increase market share.
  • Prepare and present account reviews, pricing proposals, forecasts, and other commercial reports to internal stakeholders.
  • Support the Craft Commercial team with additional commercial, strategic, and marketing initiatives as required by business and market needs.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications & Skills
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a similar commercial or account management role.
  • Strong organizational, leadership, and teamwork capabilities.
  • Proven expertise in Customer Relationship Management.
  • Ability to provide technical support and solutions related to brewing and malting to customers and account teams.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent through experience.
  • Strong commercial mindset with the ability to build long-term customer relationships and identify growth opportunities.
  • Willingness to travel extensively within the region.
What We Offer
  • An attractive salary and benefits package.
  • Opportunities for international career development within a global organization.
