Full Time, Benefit Eligible, Salaried Position, Hybrid Position

Schedule: Monday- Friday, 7:30a-4:00p; No Weekends/Holidays

Location: Henry Ford Jackson Hospital

Experience in anesthesia/surgical quality and data analysis is highly desirable.

Anesthesia Services:
The Anesthesiology Performance Improvement and Reporting Exchange (ASPIRE) connects hospitals across Michigan in an effort to measure and improve the care of patients throughout the state. The Clinical Quality Facilitator II (CQF II) performs project work of a complex nature with interdisciplinary groups that may include patient advisors, care providers, administrators and medical leaders. The CQF II acts as a consultant or facilitator focusing on anesthesia patient safety and quality issues. The CQF II, with guidance, designs and delivers educational programs to assist patients, care providers, employees, physicians and leadership, meet safety and quality goals.
Key activities:
Serving as primary point of contact for the institution and ASPIRE Coordinating Center.
Implementation of Anesthesiology QI Programs developed by the Collaborative in partnership with the ASPIRE Quality Champion.
Ongoing data validation before uploading of data to Coordinating Center.
Performing medical record reviews for triaging and assessment of reported adverse events.
Facilitate root cause analysis to identify patient safety risks and mitigations.
Provides project management support to clinical improvement initiatives.
Engages management, physician leadership, and staff in the development and implementation process.
Establishes effective communication with key stake holders/teams.
Assists in the collection, analysis, and interpretation of data; promotes internal and external benchmarking.
Analyzes internal and external quality measures, evidenced based practices and national trends.
Initiates and develops clinical and safety improvement projects, programs, and education based on the assessed needs of the patient, organization and regulatory requirements.
Provides formal education in patient safety and clinical process improvement, performance measurement and management.

GENERAL SUMMARY:

The Facilitator - Clinical Quality II is able to perform complex project work with interdisciplinary groups that include senior administrators, nursing and medical leaders. This work is done with minimal supervision from Director, Initiative Effectiveness Quality & Safety. The CQF II leads or co-leads large system teams, guides implementation plans and acts as a consultant or facilitator on regulatory, disease certification, patient safety and quality issues. The CQF II designs and delivers educational programs to assist employees, physicians and leadership, meet safety and quality goals. The CQF II may assist with the design and supervision of graduate students' quality and safety projects.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

         Bachelor's degree in Nursing is required.

         Master's degree in Nursing or a related field preferred.

         Minimum of five years of clinical experience required with two years project management and/or process improvement experience preferred. Experience in educational curriculum design and delivery is an asset.

         Experience with clinical quality and patient safety principles/initiatives; demonstrated ability to apply concepts.

         Experience with new program/initiative development, implementation and evaluation.

         Computer skills including knowledge of Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Microsoft Excel, Care Plus, electronic mail and Internet navigation software.

         Ability to problem solve independently and work with minimal direction.

         Excellent organizational skills.

         Ability to work with senior leaders and large teams with diverse members.

         Demonstrated ability to negotiate and resolve conflicts.

         Ability to adapt, respond and prioritize in a rapidly changing health care environment and ability to successfully manage multiple competing demands.

         Ability to act as a change agent, providing direction to others and gaining their support.

         Basic understanding of the research process and statistical analysis.

         Strong leadership/mentoring skills and customer service skills.

         Strong interpersonal skills; ability to communicate effectively with all levels of management and staff across the System.

         Strong base of patient safety knowledge including human factors and Failure Mode and Effects Analysis.

         Strong oral and written communication skills including presentation skills.

         Understanding of health care cultures including medical and nursing cultures.

         Sound decision-making skills and problem-solving skills.

CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURES REQUIRED: Current RN licensure in the State of Michigan required.
