Job description

Truck Operator 

SUMMARY 

Mortenson is currently seeking a Truck Operator that will be responsible for operating trucks as directed and specified while adhering to all rules and regulations as mandated by Mortenson safety policies and procedures. 

RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Operate the following trucks based on project requirements: Water Truck, Dump Truck, Haul Truck, Tractor Trailer/Lowboy 
  • Follow prescribed safety regulations 
  • Ensure housekeeping is maintained in a clear and orderly fashion in assigned area 
  • Perform routine maintenance including lubricating, fueling, and cleaning 
  • Observe equipment operation to detect machine malfunctions 
  • Follow work plans and pre-task cards 
  • Build and maintain effective relationships with individuals from diverse backgrounds and organizational levels 
  • Perform all other duties as assigned 

QUALIFICATIONS 

  • Related construction experience preferred 
  • Current driver's license of proper classification and necessary endorsements as required by law 
  • Strong teamwork orientation 
  • Positive attitude and professional customer service skills 
  • Detail orientation 
  • Ability to move levers, shift gears, depress pedals, and maneuver steering wheel to operate equipment 
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, and load charts 
  • Knowledge of equipment and their uses 
  • Understand and apply basic mathematical skills (adding, subtracting, division, and multiplication) 
  • Ability to work independently 
  • Active listening skills and effective communication including an openness to diverse input and feedback 
  • Repetitive hand, arm, leg movements 
  • *Lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling: up to 50 lbs.
