Description
The water safety instructor will create engaging, safe and inclusive swim lessons in a fun, supportive environment where participants can build confidence, develop essential swimming skills and enjoy learning.
  • Flexible shifts with daytime, evening and weekend hours, no more than 29 hours per week.
  • Locations: Wayzata East Middle School Pool and Wayzata West Middle School Pool
  • Training provided prior to program start dates.

Water Safety Instructor
While promoting swimmer safety, educate participants on proper swim skills and techniques. Instruct swimming lessons in accordance with department guidelines; maintain a controlled and safe learning environment for all participants.
Essential Functions
  • Plan, organize, coordinate and direct swim activities and program for participants of all ages and skill levels.
  • Provide support and assistance to participants and staff as needed to promote a welcoming, inclusive, and accessible environment.
  • Work collaboratively with instructors, lifeguards, recreation staff, and supervisors to ensure safe, engaging and high-quality programs for all participants.
  • Follow established staff policies, procedures, safety standards and guidelines, ensuring all staff and participants understand and follow the established policies and procedures.
  • Provide a safe, fun and appropriate experience for all participants.

Qualifications
Required Qualifications
  • Must be 16 years old by program start date
  • Current Water Safety Instructor (WSI) certification
