As a senior-level clinical leader with 5–8 years of specialized experience, the Manager of Clinical Informatics serves as a strategic architect between IT and clinical practice. This role is responsible for the full lifecycle of Clinical Information Systems (CIS), from high-level design to large-scale implementation. The Manager leverages deep clinical expertise and advanced technical knowledge to lead a team of informaticists, ensuring technology serves as a catalyst for patient safety, operational efficiency, and regulatory excellence
Essential Functions
- People Leadership & Workforce Development
- Directly supervises and mentors a team of Clinical Informaticists, including performance management, goal setting, professional development, and succession planning.
- Allocates resources effectively to support enterprise priorities, large initiatives, and sustained optimization efforts.
- Contributes to workforce planning by identifying capability gaps, emerging skill needs, and role evolution within Clinical Informatics.
- Enterprise Informatics Strategy & Governance
- Establishes and maintains enterprise standards for clinical workflows, build design, testing methodologies, validation processes, and system readiness.
- Provides expert informatics consultation to executive leadership, clinical councils, and governance bodies regarding clinical, operational, and safety impacts.
- Facilitates high-stakes decision-making by evaluating enterprise-level risks, dependencies, and downstream impacts of clinical system changes.
- Optimization, Analytics, & Continuous Improvement
- Drives long-term optimization strategies using performance metrics, outcome data, and national best practices.

Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Nursing, Healthcare Informatics, Information Technology, or a related field required
- Master's Degree in Nursing, Healthcare Informatics, Information Technology, or a related field strongly preferred
*A combination of education and relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree - Bachelors or Masters - 6-9 years in clinical informatics, healthcare operations, or health information technology
- BSN/MSN - 7 years of Clinical Informatics Experience
- 1-2 years of experience in a leadership role
- 1-3 years of experience advising executive leadership and participating in organizational governance structures
