Cpg Startup information

What is a CPG startup?

A CPG startup is a new company focused on developing, producing, and selling consumer packaged goods such as food, beverages, household products, or personal care items. These startups often introduce innovative products or business models to disrupt traditional markets and appeal to changing consumer preferences. CPG startups face unique challenges, including supply chain management, branding, and scaling distribution. Their success typically depends on agility, effective marketing, and the ability to adapt quickly to trends. Many CPG startups leverage e-commerce and direct-to-consumer channels to reach their target market.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a CPG Startup founder or leader, and why are they important?

To thrive as a leader in a CPG (Consumer Packaged Goods) startup, you need a strong understanding of product development, market analysis, supply chain management, and ideally a background in business or entrepreneurship. Familiarity with tools like inventory management systems, e-commerce platforms, and data analytics software, as well as certifications in areas like food safety (if applicable), are often necessary. Exceptional creativity, resilience, networking abilities, and communication skills help you navigate challenges, attract investors, and build strong teams. These skills are critical for driving growth, maintaining operational efficiency, and standing out in a highly competitive market.

What are some common challenges faced when working at a CPG startup, and how can new hires prepare for them?

Working at a CPG (Consumer Packaged Goods) startup often means adapting to a fast-paced, ever-changing environment where roles may overlap and priorities can shift quickly. New hires may face challenges such as limited resources, rapid scaling demands, and the need to wear multiple hats—ranging from product development to marketing and sales support. To succeed, it's helpful to be proactive, flexible, and comfortable with ambiguity. Building strong cross-functional relationships and being open to continuous learning will help you navigate the startup landscape and contribute meaningfully to growth.

Job description

About the Opportunity:

As we continue to grow, we're investing in building a world-class Talent function to support our next chapter.  We are looking for a full-cycle Recruiter who thrives in high-growth, fast-moving environments and has deep experience hiring across G&A functions (Finance, People, Creative, Operations, Supply Chain, IT, Commercial, etc.).

This opportunity designed for someone who wants to make an immediate impact while helping shape how recruiting operates at scale. You'll partner closely with business leaders, deliver on hiring strategy, and provide an exceptional candidate experience while balancing speed and quality.  We are in a rapid growth phase and need a high-performing individual to help the team achieve our hiring targets.

If you're energized by ambiguity, love building while doing, and bring a strong ownership mindset, this role is for you.

Key Responsibilities Include:

Full-Cycle Recruiting Excellence

  • Own end-to-end recruiting across various functions from intake to offer close and onboarding transition
  • Lead structured intake conversations to clarify role scope, success outcomes, competencies, and long-term growth trajectory
  • Design thoughtful interview plans that assess both current capability and future scale potential
  • Drive alignment with hiring managers on candidate calibration, feedback quality, and decision timelines
  • Manage multiple concurrent searches while maintaining speed, quality, and rigor

Elevate the Candidate Experience

  • Deliver a high-touch, transparent, and responsive candidate journey from first outreach to final decision
  • Serve as a brand ambassador for Kinder's; articulating our culture, growth story, and leadership principles with authenticity
  • Ensure candidates experience consistency, respect, and clarity at every stage of the process
  • Coach interviewers on structured, inclusive interview practices
  • Gather and apply candidate feedback to continuously improve the hiring experience
  • Balance urgency with care; creating a fast process while prioritizing the candidate's experience

Strategic Sourcing & Pipeline Development

  • Develop proactive sourcing strategies tailored to each role, market, and business need
  • Leverage LinkedIn Recruiter, networking, referrals, industry communities, and creative outreach to build strong pipelines
  • Build and nurture talent pools for recurring or future G&A needs
  • Partner with hiring leaders to define target profiles and competitive positioning
  • Drive diversity of thought and background through intentional sourcing strategies
  • Track sourcing effectiveness and adjust strategies based on market data and performance

Partner & Talent Advisor

  • Act as a trusted advisor to hiring managers, influencing talent decisions with data and market insight
  • Provide visibility into pipeline health, time-to-fill, and hiring risks
  • Help leaders think long-term about talent bench strength and succession potential
  • Support compensation conversations and offer strategy in competitive markets

Build for Scale

  • Identify opportunities to improve recruiting workflows, systems, and tools
  • Contribute to evolving Kinder's recruiting playbooks and structured interview practices
  • Help refine reporting and metrics that drive better hiring decisions
  • Support hiring spikes during high-growth periods while maintaining operational discipline
  • Bring a continuous improvement mindset to how we attract, assess, and close talent

Skills + Experience:

  • 4+ years of full cycle recruiting experience
  • Experience hiring across G&A functions (Finance, HR, Marketing, IT, Operations, Supply Chain, Legal, etc.)
  • Proven success in high-growth, fast-paced environments
  • Strong sourcing skills and experience engaging passive candidates
  • Ability to manage multiple requisitions simultaneously
  • Experience partnering directly with hiring managers and senior leaders
  • Skilled in structured interviewing and competency-based assessment
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Comfortable working in evolving, ambiguous environments
  • Experience with Greenhouse ATS or similar recruiting tools

Preferred:

  • Experience in CPG, startup, or private equity-backed companies
  • Familiarity with California employment practices
Pay Transparency:

This role will be non-exempt, contract, and the hourly rate pay at $45 - $55 per hour.
