The Town of Riverdale Park is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Finance Manager (CPA Preferred) to join the Office of Finance Services. This is a key leadership position responsible for managing the Towns day-to-day accounting operations and supporting the integrity of financial reporting and internal controls.

This position offers the opportunity to play a meaningful role in municipal finance, supporting responsible stewardship of public resources and helping guide the Towns continued financial stability and operational excellence.

Position Overview

The Finance Manager oversees the Towns daily accounting operations including accounts payable, accounts receivable, financial reporting support, bank reconciliations, and audit preparation.

The position plays an important role in ensuring accurate financial records, maintaining strong internal controls, and supporting the Towns annual audit and budget processes.

The Finance Manager works closely with the Deputy Director of Finance and the Director of Finance and Employee Services to support financial operations and improve financial systems and processes.

Key Responsibilities

Manage day-to-day accounting operations including accounts payable and accounts receivable
Maintain general ledger records and perform financial reconciliations
Support preparation of monthly and quarterly financial reports
Assist with preparation of the Towns annual operating budget
Coordinate audit schedules and assist with the annual external audit
Ensure compliance with GAAP and Town financial policies
Monitor banking activity and reconcile deposits and accounts
Identify opportunities to improve financial processes and efficiency
Support implementation and improvement of financial systems and ERP tools

Minimum Qualifications


Education

Bachelors degree in:

  • Accounting
  • Finance
  • Business Administration
  • Public Administration
  • or a closely related field


Experience

Minimum 35 years of progressively responsible accounting experience, preferably in municipal or governmental finance.


Certifications


  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation preferred.
  • Candidates possessing a CPA license must maintain it in an active, unrestricted status throughout their employment.


Preferred Qualifications

Experience in municipal or governmental finance
Experience with financial management or ERP systems
Knowledge of governmental accounting standards
Bilingual proficiency in Spanish is a plus
