Both roles require investigative skills and law enforcement knowledge, but their methods and environments differ significantly.

What are common challenges faced by professionals working in covert operations, and how can they be managed?

Professionals in covert operations often face challenges such as maintaining secrecy, managing stress from high-risk environments, and adapting quickly to changing situations. Balancing operational security with effective communication can be difficult, as can integrating into teams where roles and intentions may not be fully disclosed. Success in these roles typically requires strong situational awareness, emotional resilience, and ongoing training in both technical and interpersonal skills. Regular debriefings, mental health support, and clear protocols are essential for managing these challenges effectively.

What is a covert?

Covert jobs refer to positions that require secrecy or discretion, often involving undercover work. These roles are common in fields like law enforcement, military, or intelligence agencies, where employees might operate without revealing their true identity or purpose. The primary objective of a covert job is to gather information or perform tasks without drawing attention. Such positions often require specialized training and a high level of trust due to the sensitive nature of the work.

Power a safer tomorrow

At WECTEC Staffing/Westinghouse, safety is our north star. As the Site Electrical Supervision Manager at the Palisades nuclear site in Covert, MI, you’ll orchestrate people, plans, and procedures to deliver quality work—safely and on schedule. This is a full-time, 6–12-month contract reporting to the Palisades Site Manager.

Picture this

A critical system requires a planned maintenance window. You’ve staffed qualified electricians, aligned permits, briefed hazards, and staged materials. Work begins: installations and troubleshooting proceed under strict procedures. Mid-course, an unexpected reading surfaces—you guide the team through structured problem-solving, verify against schematics, consult project engineering, and keep documentation impeccable. The system returns to service, compliant and on time. That’s the impact you’ll make.

Your responsibilities
  • Lead electrical crews performing maintenance, new installs, and troubleshooting in a nuclear environment.
  • Oversee logistics, staffing, and adherence to company policies and safety standards.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional project teams to meet deadlines and regulatory obligations.
  • Conduct inspections; ensure compliance with industry codes and nuclear safety requirements.
  • Drive safe work practices and consistent, high-quality performance.
  • Maintain complete, accurate records of work, inspections, and safety verifications.
Qualifications
  • Field experience in electrical work.
  • Experience within nuclear facilities or other regulated settings.
  • Demonstrated crew leadership and on-site issue resolution ability.
  • 5+ years working with electrical systems, safety protocols, and compliance.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical documents.
  • Preferred credentials: journeyman electrician, OSHA training, nuclear site clearance.
  • High School Graduate or Equivalent.
Core proficiencies
  • Electrical Schematics
  • Electrical Schematic Reading
