Job description

Dietary Supervisor/Manager

 

Position Summary:

Direct all aspects of the food service/dietary department.

 

Qualifications:  

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Completion of accredited course in dietetic training approved by the American Dietetic Association
  • Certified Dietary Manager (CDM) certificate
  • Minimum of five (5) years’ experience in kitchen, supervisory position, preferably in a hospital, nursing or other related medical facility
  • Proven experience managing a budget and controlling food costs  
  • Ability to lead by example and treat everyone at work kindly and professionally

Responsibilities:

  • Plan, develop, organize, evaluate and direct the Food Services Department reputation, programs and activities
  • Hire, train and supervise staff in a kind, collaborative manner
  • Partner with Dietician to ensure residents’ diets and nutritional needs are met
  • Coordinate food services and activities with other related departments as needed
  • Ensure that menus are maintained and filed in accordance with established policies
  • Monitors staff to confirm they adhere to all sanitation, safety and procedural guidelines
  • Participates in facility’s surveys and inspections, developing a plan of correction if /when deficiencies are noted
  • Assists in developing and maintaining written food services policies and procedures
  • Inspects special diet trays to confirm patients/residents receiving the correct food
  • Ensures all meals are served on time; including snacks
  • Ensures food quality and that kitchen areas and equipment are clean and operable
  • Manages food storage rooms, utility/janitorial closets for regulatory compliance
  • Ensures charted dietary progress notes are informative and descriptive of meals provided
  • Provides reports on department status and/or for dietary programs when requested
