DAVE School is seeking a qualified Digital Arts Adjunct Instructor at DAVE School in Orlando.

We are seeking an experienced instructor with expertise in both game development and visual effects to join our team. The ideal candidate has a passion for teaching and a strong technical background spanning game engines, 3D modeling, compositing, and asset creation. You will guide students through project-based learning in both disciplines, ensuring they develop the technical and creative skills needed to succeed in the game and VFX industries.

The course will be offered on Wednesday and Thursday afternoons/evenings.


Course Description:

DART 3350 - Exploring The Metaverse 3.0 Semester Credits

In this course, students will explore the emerging concept of the metaverse and the interaction of individuals in a variety of activities. They will analyze theories from various fields, including software development and ethical implications, as a basis for understanding the metaverse's theoretical foundations. Students will further examine the metaverseโ€™s influence, guidance, interconnection, and effect on todayโ€™s culture as a driver of social change.


Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher with official transcripts from a post-secondary institution (Game Development, Computer Science, Digital Arts, or equivalent experience) or 3 years of industry experience.

  • Minimum of 3 years of professional work experience in game development and/or VFX.

  • Solid understanding of game mechanics, asset pipelines, and optimization.

  • One Year of College-Level Teaching Experience.

  • Strong technical proficiency in the following software:
    • Game Development: Unreal Engine, Maya or Blender, Substance Painter, ZBrush, Photoshop
    • VFX: NUKE, Maya or Blender, Adobe Suite (Photoshop, Premiere Pro, After Effects), PF Track or Mocha Pro
  • Excellent classroom management, communication, and mentoring skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse student populations and adapt teaching methods to different learning styles.
  • Official academic transcripts of all degrees are required. All degrees must be from institutions accredited by regional or national accrediting bodies approved by the U.S. Department of Education. Foreign transcripts may be acceptable in some cases and require a translation and evaluation of equivalency to U.S. degrees by a recognized agency.

Preferred/Bonus Skills:

C++ programming in Unreal Engine Version control systems; VR/AR development experience; Multiplayer networking knowledge; Experience with Shotgrid, Quixel Megascans, or other production pipeline tools; Current professional certifications or licenses in relevant areas.


Responsibilities:

  • Teach courses in game development and visual effects, including Unreal Engine, Blueprint scripting, 3D modeling, compositing, and related workflows.
  • Mentor students on individual and team projects, providing constructive feedback and technical guidance.
  • Stay current with industry trends, tools, and techniques, and integrate them into the curriculum.
  • Collaborate with other instructors and program coordinators to continuously improve course content and student outcomes.
  • Evaluate student performance through assignments, projects, and assessments.
  • Support students in developing professional portfolios showcasing their technical skills in both game development and VFX.
  • Deliver engaging, hands-on lessons covering:
    • Unreal Engine interface, Blueprint scripting, and gameplay mechanics.
    • 3D modeling, texturing, and asset creation.
    • Compositing, tracking, and post-production techniques.
    • Asset importing, material creation, lighting, and optimization.
    • Technical problem-solving and debugging across the game and VFX pipeline.
