Position Summary
An Assistant Professor is primarily responsible for planning, implementing, and evaluating classroom, laboratory, and clinical instruction and academic advising of students at Aultman College of Nursing and Health Sciences. Participation in program development and evaluation is also required. Participation in College committees and activities as needed.
Department Summary
The Nursing Division at Aultman College is dedicated to preparing highly skilled nursing professionals through innovative teaching methods, simulation-based learning, and a strong emphasis on clinical and laboratory experiences. The department is committed to maintaining high educational standards while fostering continuous improvement in both instructional techniques and faculty development. Faculty members collaborate with internal and external partners to ensure alignment of program goals with real-world clinical practices and educational needs, all while upholding regulatory standards and academic excellence.
Qualifications
- Completion of an approved registered nursing education program.
- Current active unencumbered OBN or multistate license to practice registered nursing.
- Experience for two years in the practice of nursing as a registered nurse.
- Certified Nurse Educator (CNE) required. May obtain after meeting qualifications.
- A minimum of a master’s degree in nursing with maintenance of expertise in area of responsibility.
- A Master’s degree in nursing, if the individual does not possess a Bachelor of Science in nursing degree, the Master’s degree or other professional degree, including, but not limited to a Ph.D., shall in nursing.
- If the individual possesses a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree, the Master's degree may be, but is not required to be, in nursing. Previous teaching experience in a professional nursing education program is preferred.
- In this case, the individual is qualified for clinical instruction only.

Working Conditions

Hazardous Exposure Category
Category II - Includes tasks that involve no exposure to blood, body fluids, or tissues, but employment may require performing unplanned Category I tasks. The normal work routine involves no exposure to blood, body fluids, or tissues by exposure or potential exposure may be required as a condition of employment. Appropriate protective measures will be readily available to every employee engaged in Category II tasks.
