Job description

Description
The Department of History and the Humanities Program at Yale University seek to jointly appoint a full-time tenure-track Assistant Professor in the history of medieval Europe with an anticipated start date of July 1, 2027. The teaching expectation is normally four courses academic year. The focus of these courses would be medieval European history, but candidates will also be encouraged to teach more broadly within premodern global or comparative history and expected to teach in the Directed Studies program. Applicants may be specialists in any period or area of European history from 400-1500 CE. Critically, their profile must reflect a strong investment in cross-disciplinary engagement and general education, which will contribute to Yale's Directed Studies program and Humanities major.
Qualifications
The appointee must hold a Ph.D. or equivalent degree or have completed all requirements for the Ph.D. by June 1, 2027.
