How much do couplings jobs pay per year?

As of Jun 13, 2026, the average yearly pay for couplings in the United States is $94,805.00, according to ZipRecruiter salary data. Most workers in this role earn between $59,000.00 and $112,000.00 per year, depending on experience, location, and employer.

What are couplings in mechanical engineering?

Couplings are mechanical devices used to connect two shafts together at their ends for the purpose of transmitting power. They help accommodate misalignment, absorb shock loads, and allow for some degree of movement between the connected shafts. Couplings are essential components in machinery as they ensure smooth power transmission and can also provide protection by disconnecting during overloads. There are various types of couplings, such as rigid, flexible, and fluid couplings, each suited for different applications.

What are the typical daily responsibilities of a Couplings Technician in a manufacturing environment?

As a Couplings Technician, your daily responsibilities typically include inspecting, assembling, and maintaining various types of mechanical couplings used in machinery and piping systems. You’ll work closely with engineers and maintenance teams to ensure proper alignment, torque, and fit of coupling components, following detailed technical drawings and safety protocols. Troubleshooting and resolving issues such as vibration, misalignment, or wear are also common tasks, requiring attention to detail and a strong understanding of mechanical systems. Collaboration with other technicians and regular communication with supervisors are key to ensuring production runs smoothly and equipment downtime is minimized.

What jobs pay $10,000 a month without a degree?

In the field of couplings or related mechanical roles, high-paying jobs often require specialized skills or certifications rather than a traditional degree. Positions such as experienced industrial technicians, sales engineers, or project managers in manufacturing can reach or exceed $10,000 per month with relevant experience and technical knowledge. These roles typically involve hands-on work, problem-solving, and familiarity with machinery and engineering principles.

What jobs pay $400 an hour?

High-paying jobs that can reach $400 an hour include specialized roles such as experienced surgeons, anesthesiologists, corporate lawyers, and certain consulting or executive positions. These roles typically require advanced education, extensive experience, and often involve high levels of responsibility or expertise. Freelance or consulting work in niche industries may also command such rates for highly skilled professionals.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Couplings Engineer, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Couplings Engineer, you need a solid background in mechanical engineering, knowledge of power transmission systems, and experience with component design. Familiarity with CAD software, finite element analysis (FEA) tools, and relevant industry standards or certifications (such as ASME) is typically required. Strong problem-solving abilities, attention to detail, and effective communication skills help you excel when collaborating with multidisciplinary teams. These competencies are crucial for ensuring reliable coupling designs, optimizing system performance, and meeting safety and quality standards.

What jobs pay $500,000 a year in the US?

High-paying roles related to couplings typically include senior engineering positions, such as mechanical or industrial engineers, especially in leadership or specialized technical roles, and executive roles in manufacturing or industrial companies. These jobs often require advanced skills, extensive experience, and sometimes professional certifications, with salaries reaching or exceeding $500,000 annually in certain industries or with bonuses and profit sharing.

What jobs pay 2000 a day?

High-paying jobs that can reach $2,000 a day often include specialized roles such as surgeons, anesthesiologists, corporate lawyers, and senior executives. These positions typically require advanced education, extensive experience, and often involve high-stakes environments or specialized skills. Freelance consultants or contractors in certain industries may also earn this level of daily income depending on their expertise and client base.

Job description

Is AMERICAN the right fit for you?

AMERICAN SpiralWeld Pipe Company is hiring Fitter-Welders at our East Coast Operation in Columbia, SC. At AMERICAN, we believe in doing things THE RIGHT WAY. That's why our employees earn competitive pay, receive excellent benefits and have opportunities to grow. All this while making products the world needs.

We value safety, quality, and teamwork. We are hiring skilled Fabrication Fitters to lay out, fit, and weld fabricated pipe and associated components (flanges, elbows, couplings, etc.). As a Fabrication Fitter-Welder at our manufacturing and fabrication facility, you will prepare, assemble, and fit large diameter pipe and components to print and specification. The role requires precise layout, mechanical fitting, welding, and collaboration with inspectors, and production leads to ensure parts meet quality, dimensional, and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Read and interpret fabrication prints, isometric drawings, and weld procedures.
  • Lay out and mark pipe, fittings, and flanges for cutting, beveling, and welding.
  • Fit and tack large diameter pipe components such as flanges, elbows, reducers, couplings, and related components to specified tolerances.
  • Use measuring tools (calipers, micrometers, tape, squares, levels, protractors) to verify dimensions and alignment.
  • Perform quality checks and collaborate with welders/inspectors to ensure weld preparation and final welds meet standards.
  • Operate saws, beveling machines, grinders, torque tools, and basic fabrication equipment safely.
  • Clean, prepare, and apply temporary protection to parts as required.
  • Maintain accurate work records (travel, material use, fabrication logs) as directed.
  • Follow all safety policies, wear required PPE, and participate in safety meetings and toolbox talks.
  • Assist with material handling, rigging, and staging of pipe and pipe related components for welding and transport.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Minimum 2–5 years' experience as a fit-up/fabrication fitter in pipe fabrication or heavy industrial environment.
  • Proficient in reading fabrication prints, isometrics, and welding symbols.
  • Strong measuring and layout skills; ability to hold tight tolerances.
  • Experience with pipe fitting for flanges, elbows, couplings, and spool assembly.
  • Familiarity with welding processes and weld preparation- certification not required but a plus.
  • Comfortable using grinders, bevelers, band saws, and hand/power tools.
  • Ability to work from scaffolding or elevated platforms and perform moderate physical labor.
  • Strong attention to detail, good communication skills, and ability to work in a team.
  • Must follow safety protocols; OSHA 10/30 preferred.
  • Willingness to work overtime and shift schedules as required.

Preferred

  • Pipefitter or boilermaker background.
  • Welding certifications (e.g., AWS) or experience collaborating closely with certified welders.
  • Experience with large-diameter pipe and heavy flange alignment.

What We Offer

  • Competitive pay and shift differentials.
  • Medical, dental, vision, and retirement benefits.
  • Paid time off and holidays.
  • Opportunities for training, certification, and career advancement.
  • A safety-first culture and supportive team environment.
