GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES
This is an armed security service position providing security for County owned property.
DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS
An employee in this class provides armed security for all County owned property. Responds to provide security services for County facilities in Greensboro and High Point. This position supervises County Security Officers and contract security officers. Duties include responding to calls, escorts, all alarms, disturbances, incidents and emergencies that may arise. Monitors CCTVs and other recording/monitoring devices as well as dispatching duties as needed. Perform any other security related duties as assigned by the Security Director, Assistant Security Director, Captain or First Lieutenant.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Essential Duties and Tasks
  • Provides armed security for County property making periodic checks 24 hours a day.
  • Responds to any and all alarms, disturbances and incidents that may occur.
  • Patrols parking lots ensuring adequate services are being followed.
  • Supervises County and contract security officers to ensure adequate services are being rendered.
  • Patrols floors and interacts with employees and customers.
  • Writes reports, sends emails and keeps up with day to day operations.
  • Performs other duties as required by manpower including but not limited to control room operations, static positions, equipment maintenance, escort services.
  • Show and maintain proficiency with pepper spray, baton, taser and CPR/AED.
  • Possess de-escalation skills.
RECRUITMENT STANDARDS
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Knowledge of management practices and supervisory techniques sufficient to supervise and evaluate personnel.
  • Knowledge of effective verbal and written communication techniques and methods sufficient to document analysis of facts and interact with all types of personnel and the public.
  • Knowledge of staffing and scheduling of staff. *REMOVE
  • Knowledge of electronic and video security monitoring devices and maintenance procedures.
  • Knowledge of information transfer including deductive reasoning, inference, and otheraspectsof logicPossess de-escalation skills

Typical Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
  • High school graduation or equivalent AND three years of experience in security, military, law enforcement or related field AND at least one year of armed experience in security, military, law enforcement or related field.
  • Will be required to obtain Armed Security Guard Registration with the State of North Carolina and re-qualify annually with service handgun.
  • Must pass Defensive Driving (4D) Course.
  • Must be available for all shifts.

  • Subject to 24-hour emergency call in.

No felony or first-degree misdemeanor convictions directly related to responsibilities of the position. All applicants will be required to undergo a thorough security background investigation and psychological evaluation. Valid driver's license.
