Job description

We have an outstanding career opportunity for a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join a leading Company located in the Syracuse, NY surrounding area.

Salary: $79,000.00 - $158,000

As a Sr. Engineer in the Heat Transfer Group, you will be a key member of the team providing advanced heat exchanger solutions to our global HVAC&R portfolio. The candidate's primary responsibility will be to lead modeling-centered technology and product development. They will collaborate with other technology experts, modeling and simulation experts, product design groups, supply chain partners, and others to develop new opportunities to improve the performance, cost, and reliability of our products.

Responsibilities
  • Lead technology development programs and deliver on-time solutions to customers.
  • Support new product development programs and contribute to the design of heat exchangers and other thermo-fluid components.
  • Develop, validate, and deploy new heat exchanger technologies for our current and growing range of products
  • Identify and pursue innovation opportunities that improve efficiency, cost, reliability, and competitiveness of our products.
  • Apply state-of-the-art design and simulation tools to optimize heat exchanger performance
  • Work with cross-functional product development teams to ensure successful insertion of new designs into our products
  • Support benchmarking, development, validation, and implementation of advanced heat exchanger technologies.
  • Assist in developing state-of-the-art design and simulation tools; plan and conduct experiments to calibrate and validate modeling tools.
  • Provide support to product engineering teams to ensure the proper application of new heat-transfer technologies throughout the product development cycle.

Basic Hiring Criteria:
  • Bachelor's Degree in engineering with 4+ years in engineering, or Master's Degree in engineering with 2+ years in engineering, or PhD in engineering.

Desired Qualifications:
  • Knowledge of the fundamentals of thermodynamics and fluid mechanics as well as heat transfer and heat exchanger design.
  • Knowledge of two-phase flow phenomena (liquid-gas), heat transfer, and hydraulic resistance concepts.
  • Experience in mechanical and thermal design using numerical and analytical models; CFD/FEA familiarity is a plus.
  • Experience in computer programming languages; EES and MATLAB.
  • Good communication and organization skills.
  • Ability to manage critical tasks and complete assignments in a timely manner.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Ability to creatively overcome obstacles to achieve project objectives.
