Job description

TITLE:  County Administrator

SALARY:  $100,000 to $124,000 commensurate with experience

GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES:  The County Administrator is the executive secretary of the County Commissioners and the chief administrative officer for supervising all personnel and activities coming under the direct jurisdiction of the Commissioners. The Administrator is appointed by and serves at the discretion of the Commissioners. For a more comprehensive listing of duties, please see the Job Description.

QUALIFICATIONS:  The County Administrator shall be a professionally qualified person of proven ability who has had substantial involvement with municipal or regional government and is appropriately fitted by education, training, and previous experience in a responsible administrative position to perform the duties of the office. The County Administrator shall possess a master’s degree (preferred) or bachelor’s degree, plus five years’ municipal administrative experience or the equivalent combination of education and experience.  A Massachusetts Certified Public Purchasing Official (MCPPO) designation from the Inspector General’s office is preferred.  Candidates should have superior financial acumen with proven skills in municipal project coordination, human resources management, collective bargaining, procurement, and communication; should have the ability to multitask, build collaborative relationships, and value transparency in government.

Founded in 1685, the County of Plymouth is a regional government encompassing twenty-seven municipalities in southeastern Massachusetts. In addition to the Registry of Deeds offices in Plymouth, Brockton, and Rockland, the County provides regional cooperative purchasing services, municipal dredging, parking ticket processing, 4-H programming, maintains courthouses in Brockton, Hingham, and Wareham, and administers the Plymouth County OPEB Trust (PCOT) in addition to many other services and programs.
