Liability Associate - Law Enforcement 

Specialized Government and Public Entity Liability Practice

Locations: Los Angeles | Orange County | San Diego | Inland Empire (Riverside/San Bernardino)

Multiple California office locations available

Hybrid remote work arrangement: flexibility to work remotely for a portion of your week

Position Overview:

We are seeking an Associate Attorney with a minimum of two years of civil litigation experience to join our Government and Public Entity Liability practice group. This team specializes in providing comprehensive legal representation for public entities and governmental organizations in matters spanning hazardous condition claims to emergency personnel liability related disputes.

Primary Responsibilities:

·       Manage discovery processes, including drafting and responding to discovery requests, preparing and arguing motions

·       Take and defend depositions, preparing witnesses and responding to opposing counsel

·       Develop and execute comprehensive litigation strategies based on case analysis and client objectives

·       Provide timely and accurate case reporting and updates to clients, ensuring compliance with case management protocols

·       Maintain proactive communication with clients throughout litigation

Required Qualifications:

·       Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree

·       Active membership in state bar with good standing status

·       Minimum of two years of civil litigation experience

·       Must have DEFENSE experience (not plaintiff side)

·       Must be comfortable defending police officers/law enforcement

·       Must have courtroom exposure (depositions, discovery, arguing motions)

·       Exceptional written and verbal communication and advocacy skills

·       Superior time management capabilities and demonstrated ability to manage competing deadlines

Preferred Qualifications:

·       Prior experience in law enforcement or military service

·       Background in criminal defense law

Compensation and Benefits:

Salary Range - up to $187,000, plus an exciting bonus program to reward outstanding performance. Actual compensation is dependent on experience and qualifications.
