The Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum Department of Operations


The Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum has an opening for a full-time non-exempt Operations and Event Set-up Crew Member in the Operations Department.


Museum Overview: Located in the heart of downtown Nashville, the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum documents and interprets the history of country music-a musical genre and culture central to the identity of the city, the state, and the nation. Accredited by the American Alliance of Museums, the museum proudly combines subject expertise, ambitious research, and preservation of an unparalleled collection with expressions of creativity in music, art, and history. The museum collects artifacts that illustrate the evolving history and traditions of country music and provides diverse learning opportunities through educational programs, publications, and exhibitions. The core exhibit follows the story of country music from its folk beginnings through its evolution as a commercial art form. Rotating exhibits examine a broad range of topics, from country classics to contemporary and emerging artists in American Currents. The museum owns Hatch Show Print, a letterpress print shop opened in 1879, and it operates Historic RCA Studio B, where Elvis Presley and many others recorded.

Departmental Overview:   Our department is responsible for security, housekeeping, courier services, and dock management. Our goal is to provide efficient and professional support to internal and external clients, while also serving as a museum ambassador to external clients. Our responsibilities include providing a clean and safe space for guests, visitors, staff, and artifacts. We strive to provide excellent customer service and exceed expectations.


Job Overview:   The Event Set-Up Crew Member will be responsible for the set-up and tear down of all events hosted by the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum. This position will assist the Operations department with duties including setting up for public and private events, building walk-throughs, distribution of deliveries, and the organization of storage areas. Working hours are scheduled based on the event calendar, including nights, weekends and holidays. This position will report directly to the Manager of Operations.


Specific Job Duties:

  • Duties include daily set up for events which include movement of tables, chairs, podiums, stage, pipe and drape, hanging of banners and other miscellaneous requests. 
  • Ensure that event space is re-set at end of event for next business day.
  • Ensure that the entire front of house museum space is clean and organized throughout the day.
  • Ensure the cleanliness of the Facility, and event space meets CMHOFM expectations.
  • Perform housekeeping and janitorial duties such as sweeping, mopping, dusting, pressure washing, etc. when needed.
  • Support all CMHOFM staff and assist with interdepartmental requests.
  • Perform other duties assigned.
  • Please note this is not a production or audio visual position.

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School diploma

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in the hospitality industry a plus
  • Previous experience as an operations tech with similar work

  • Must be able to lift 75lbs.
  • Ability to multitask and problem solve

  • This job will require working with the public and staff members.

Conditions of Employment:

  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule including weekends, evenings,  and some holidays.
