Solid Surface Technician - Key Millwork


Overview

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Solid Surface Technician to join our production cabinet shop. This role focuses on efficient fabrication, assembly, and finishing of cabinetry, millwork and solid surface countertops according to shop drawings and production schedules. We are looking for a candidate that has strong woodworking and solid surface finishing skills, can work accurately in a fast-paced production environment, and take pride in craftsmanship and consistency. Depending on the candidate's skillset and desired responsibilities, and emphasis can be put into either cabinet fabrication or solid surface fabrication.


Key Responsibilities

  • Fabricate countertops, sills, transaction tops, and specialty items from solid surface materials (Corian, Hi-Macs, Wilsonart, etc.)
    • Cutting sheets to size using sliding table saw
    • Edge build-ups
    • Polishing and sanding
    • Seam preparation and adhesive bonding
    • Sink and fixture installation
  • Reading Shop Drawings & Production Coordination
    • Confirming dimensions
    • Understanding edge treatments and splash details
    • Coordinating with casework shop drawings
    • Communicating discrepancies to drafting or PM staff
  • Quality Control & Installation Readiness
    • Inspect seams, edges, and finish quality
    • Prepare pieces for transport
    • Assist with field adjustments if required
    • Verify dimensions before packaging
  • Other Responsibilities
    • Fabricate, and assemble cabinet and countertop components according to shop drawings and specifications
    • Read and interpret blueprints, cut lists, and production documents
    • Ensure all work meets quality standards and tolerances
    • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area
    • Follow shop safety procedures and equipment guidelines
    • Communicate with supervisors and team members to meet production deadlines
    • Assist with material handling, inventory, and general shop duties as needed


Qualifications & Skills

  • Proven experience as a solid surface fabricator or cabinet maker or woodworker in a production or custom shop preferred
  • Ability to read and interpret shop drawings and measurements accurately
  • Attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship
  • Self-starter with good time management skills and ability to meet deadlines
  • Physical ability to stand for extended periods and lift materials as required
  • Experience with CNC machinery, edge banding and dowel boring systems is preferred
  • Experience in commercial or high-volume cabinet production environments is preferred
  • Knowledge of various cabinet hardware systems and installation methods is preferred
