Job Description

Position           : Couchbase Database Administrator

Location          : Tallahassee, FL Onsite – Need Local

Duration         : Long term contract

BACKGROUND

The client provides utility computing services to educational/governmental communities and maintains a 24-hour, 7 days a week, 365 days a year, Tier III data center located in the Southwood Government Complex and a 2nd facility at Innovation Park. The client operation has redundant power, backup generators, redundant network connections, and manages services for a variety of state agencies as well as other governmental agencies. The client also provides offsite disaster recovery services for several customers at multiple remote locations and in various clouds. The mission of the Agency is to provide agency customers with consistent and secure computing power, expert support, creative, innovative solutions, and continuity of service.

SCOPE OF WORK

A. Service Delivery

  1. Provide support, on-going maintenance, and required modifications to database applications already in production.
  2. Work with agency customers to develop and implement a process to receive data and disperse it to the appropriate internal applications, adhering to all State of Florida security guidelines.
  3. Assist in designing the Database Architecture and Strategic plan for agency customers.
  4. Provide research and analytical services for new projects as they emerge.
  5. Develop protocol for implementing existing and newly developed Database applications within the existing environment.
  6. Implement changes to existing and newly-developed Database applications when authorized and in accordance with Agency Change Management/Service Request procedures.
  7. Create technical documentation associated with projects upon request.
  8. Conduct Pilot projects and research new technologies to support current or new processes as needed.
  9. Create complete and accurate project documentation.
  10. Develop timelines as requested.
  11. Evaluate and recommend improvements to systems and/or processes as requested.
  12. Evaluate system tools and determine their usefulness to the Agency and its customer s environment.
  13. Maintain accurate and detailed accounting of hours worked and tasks completed for each project.
  14. Mentor junior and journeymen Database Administrators.
  15. Work within the constraints of the Agency policies on security, privacy, and procedures.
  16. Support and comply with all Agency policies and procedures.
  17. Document work activities through Agency Change Management, Service Desk and Cost allocation procedures.
  18. Reporting for emergency duty is required as part of this position. Emergencies may occur at any time and create varying degrees of damage, human suffering, injury, death, and property damage or destruction. The NWRDC, along with many other local and state agencies, has responsibilities before, during, and/or after emergencies. The NWRDC Consultants are an important part of our emergency responsibilities. In the event of an emergency, unless Consultant is granted a temporary exemption from emergency duty, Consultant may be required to work before, during, and/or beyond normal work hours or days to perform emergency duties including, but not limited to, responses to or threats involving any disaster or threat of disaster, man-made or natural.
  19. Other tasks as directed by Platform Manager.

B. Internal Processes & Support

  1. Follows all established team processes and procedures
  2. Facilitates product purchases and maintenance renewal efforts
  3. Develops documentation for support processes, systems, and procedures
  4. Participates in the change management process
  5. Tracks time for Professional Services billing purposes
  6. Provides second-level technical support assistance to internal and external customers
  7. Maintains security, confidentiality, and availability of systems
  8. Monitors Service Desk ticketing system and responds appropriately based on published time expectations
  9. Must be available for on-call and/or overtime duties as required
  10. Participates in Computer Security and Incident Response Team (CSIRT) and

Continuity of Operations (COOP) events, where required

9. Documentation - Maintain clear and up-to-date documentation of the Couchbase Server environment, including configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps.

10. Replication Managing of Cross Data Center Replication of the Couchbase environment (XDCR)

11. Upgrades - Performing SDK libraries, kernel, and operating system upgrade of our Couchbase environment.

12. 4 - 10 years’ experience Couchbase Database Administrator. (Preffered)
