Job description

Fall 2026 Internship: This position is located at our HQ in Durham, NC.  Expected program dates are September 14 - December 4, 2026. Anticipated working hours will be 15-30 per week. Final hours and schedule will be determined between the intern and their manager.

Introduction: 

The AI Supply Chain Intern will support the development, testing, and deployment of AI powered agent solutions across Demand Planning, Execution, and Inventory Management. The intern will work directly with supply chain subject matter experts to identify automation opportunities, develop AI agent prototypes, validate business requirements, and help test internally developed AI-powered tools.

This role provides hands-on experience applying Artificial Intelligence, Process Automation, Data Analytics, and Supply Chain Planning in a real-world business environment.

Must Have: 

  • Must be able to work a hybrid schedule, including on-site work at our Durham, NC headquarters.
  • Experience with Excel, and familiarity with Supply Chain field
  • AI/ML Tools Experience (Exposure to LLMs, Copilot, previously built AI agents in a Microsoft environment)

Responsibilities: 

AI Agent Development

  • Identify repetitive supply chain activities suitable for AI automation.
  • Design, prototype, and test AI agents that support:
    • Demand Planning
    • Inventory Management
    • Order Execution
    • Reporting & Analytics
  • Build agent workflows using Microsoft Copilot Studio, Power Platform, Python, APIs, and other approved tools.
  • Document business requirements, workflows, and agent functionality.

AI-Powered Tool Testing

  • Support testing and validation of the organization's AI-powered solutions.
  • Execute test cases and document defects.
  • Validate forecast outputs against business expectations.
  • Gather feedback from planners and stakeholders.
  • Support training materials and user documentation.

Required Skills: 

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in a field related to Supply Chain, Technology, Data Analytics, Engineering, Business, or a related quantitative discipline.
  • Excellent analytical skills
  • Understanding of supply chain concepts, including planning, inventory management, and metrics  
  • Ability to work in a fast paced, team-based environment  
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills  
  • Problem determination and debugging, attention to detail, teamwork and excellent communication skills.  
  • Effective verbal and written communication; able to read, write, and speak English proficiently 

Preferred Skills:  

  • Experience using Microsoft Copilot, Copilot Studio, Power Query
  • Understanding of Python
  • Previous coursework or work experience involving AI, business process automation, supply chain analytics, or building AI agents
  • Knowledge or experience in supply chain
