Software Engineer 2
Job Description:
Design and develop Costco Travel's in-house travel booking software applications. Work on Costco Travel's travel portal which allows Costco members to book car rentals, vacation packages, hotels, and cruises. Collaborate on requirement analysis, project planning and scheduling, estimating the tasks, and defining project milestones. Provide software design solutions and enforce application development guidelines and best practices. Participate in sprint planning activities and execute project tasks. Leverage education and professional experience to analyze and solve moderately complex problems. Collaborate with other teams as needed to ensure the company's technical directions and standards are followed. Support deployment activities into production as per the release calendar and work closely with the software testing team in clarifying test scenarios and test cases. Telecommuting permitted up to 40% within the same MSA.
Minimum Job Requirements:
  • Education: Master's or foreign equivalent degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience: Two years of work experience in:
    • Designing and developing client/server models and/or web-based applications using Java Enterprise Editions technologies (such as J2EE, Servlet, Java Server Pages, and Spring);
    • Developing database technologies with Java Database Connectivity or an equivalent data-tier framework to connect to relational databases;
    • Performing complex SQL queries to get selective data;
    • Using relational databases (such as MS-SQL Server or T-SQL) to create and modify tables, data structures, and stored procedures, and using ORM tools like Hibernate to manage relational data;
    • Developing RESTful services (microservices) using Java technologies Spring Boot, Spring Cloud;
    • Developing continuous integration and continuous deployment environments using Jenkins and Analyzing error logs in Splunk, creating dashboards, and tracking code quality; and
    • Developing unit tests.
  • Skills: Experience or Education in the following skills:
    • Java, J2EE, Servlet, Java Server Pages, Spring, Spring Boot, REST API, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, SQL, Maven, Jenkins, Git, Postman, Splunk, Service Now, Eclipse, and IntelliJ.
