Job description

The Accounting Manager will support the daily general accounting functions and assist with project accounting in the construction industry. This role works under the direction of the Controller and helps ensure accurate financial reporting, compliance, and operational support across the Ohio/Michigan locations.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Assist with finance and accounting operations for the Ohio/Michigan locations.
  • Support weekly financial forecasting and monthly reconciliations.
  • Help review projects for proper revenue recognition in weekly forecasts.
  • Assist with monthly close processes, including journal entries and reconciliations.
  • Support preparation of standard costing, labor rates, overhead allocations, prepayments, and accruals.
  • Contribute to monthly variance analysis and reporting.
  • Assist in preparing month-end, quarter-end, and year-end financial reports.
  • Provide support for annual operating and capital budget preparation.
  • Help ensure compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley procedures and assist with quarterly testing.
  • Support internal and external audits.
  • Assist with annual physical inventory counts and reconciliation to general ledger balances.
  • Provide support for job costing, WIP schedules, and percentage-of-completion accounting.
  • Help maintain fixed asset records and depreciation schedules in FAS Sage.
  • Assist with lease accounting in Costar.
  • Support preparation and filing of Sales & Use tax returns.
  • Demonstrated ability and willingness to use AI tools to improve productivity, decision-marking, work quality, and to reduce costs. The successful candidate must be able to identify appropriate AI use cases and critically evaluate AI-generated outputs.

Qualifications:
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance preferred.
  • Experience: 3-5 years in finance or accounting roles.
  • Exposure to hands-on project accounting
