We have an exciting opportunity for a full-time Category Manager, Cosmetics & Personal Care to join our Merchandising team in Langley, BC.

Reporting to the General Manager, Health & Wellness, you will be responsible for setting the strategic direction for the category. In this role, you will be focused on creating growth through product mix, promotional strategies, building supplier relationships, leveraging market innovation that enhances customer experience, while delivering on financial objectives.


You will be responsible for:

  • Developing and preparing on-going category management and product mix plans.
  • Negotiating with external/internal suppliers and manages suppliers' funding and costing agreements.
  • Analyzing the performance of product mix plans while pro-actively managing the introduction/discontinuation/optimization of the product mix within assigned categories.
  • Ensuring regular and promotional pricing strategies for assigned categories are delivered with a focus on gaining a competitive advantage.
  • Implementing changes with a focus on gaining a competitive advantage and following up and resolving key pricing issues.
  • Recommending and developing effective plans/merchandising strategies for the promotion of assigned categories via various marketing venues and partnering with key stakeholders to ensure effective communication and implementation of plans.
  • Managing the approved budget with a focus on achieving established financial targets.
  • Communicating environmental, legislative and product integrity standards to key stakeholders (e.g. Suppliers) and ensuring that new lines reflect environmental/legislative compliance/product integrity.
  • Responding to customer issues with a focus on satisfying and resolving the issues/concerns.
  • Visiting competition, trade shows/industry events and recommending/implementing innovative and profitable merchandising ideas and solutions.

You have:

  • Post-secondary education in Business Administration or relevant discipline is an asset.
  • A minimum of 5 years of retail sales experience including development, procurement, pricing, and merchandising of products.
  • Knowledge and application/interpretation of consumer/marketing and buying principles, financial information (e.g. Budgets, P/L statements), systems, applications, and databases (e.g. Excel, Seagate).
  • Proficiency with MS Office suite.
  • Experience with project management.
