Location: New York, NY (Hybrid)
Job Type: Contract (3 Months with potential extension)
Pay Rate: $48–$52/hour (W2)

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Packaging Designer to lead the creative vision and execution of innovative packaging solutions for a globally recognized beauty and consumer products brand. This role is ideal for a highly creative designer with strong technical expertise, a passion for sustainability, and experience bringing packaging concepts from ideation through production.

You'll collaborate with cross-functional teams including Engineering, Marketing, Product Development, Operations, and Regulatory to develop packaging that is visually compelling, manufacturable, and environmentally responsible.

Key ResponsibilitiesDesign Innovation
  • Lead the development of packaging concepts across multiple product categories.
  • Design innovative, consumer-focused packaging that aligns with brand identity and market trends.
  • Create sustainable packaging solutions using eco-friendly materials and circular design principles.
  • Develop design systems, packaging standards, and visual guidelines to ensure consistency.
  • Produce high-quality 2D and 3D renderings using Adobe Creative Suite and modern AI-powered design tools.
  • Design packaging for new product launches, seasonal collections, limited editions, and product refreshes.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Partner with Engineering to optimize packaging for manufacturability and production efficiency.
  • Work closely with Marketing, Product Development, Operations, and Regulatory teams throughout the design process.
  • Manage project timelines, budgets, and multiple priorities while maintaining high-quality deliverables.
  • Coordinate with external agencies, suppliers, and production partners when required.
Production & Execution
  • Prepare production-ready artwork and packaging files.
  • Oversee print approvals and production quality to ensure design intent is maintained.
  • Present creative concepts and design strategies to stakeholders with confidence.
  • Maintain packaging documentation, specifications, and design rulebooks.
Innovation & Industry Leadership
  • Stay current with packaging trends, consumer insights, AI design technologies, and sustainability advancements.
  • Explore new creative workflows using AI tools and prompt engineering.
  • Support onboarding and collaboration with freelance designers and creative agencies.
  • Promote innovation and continuous improvement across packaging design processes.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Packaging Design, Industrial Design, Graphic Design, or a related field.
  • Strong professional experience in packaging design for consumer products, cosmetics, beauty, or CPG brands.
  • Advanced proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign).
  • Experience with 3D visualization and rendering tools.
  • Hands-on experience using AI-powered creative tools such as Adobe Firefly or similar platforms.
  • Deep understanding of sustainable packaging, eco-materials, and circular design principles.
  • Knowledge of packaging materials, printing methods, manufacturing processes, and production workflows.
  • Excellent visual communication, presentation, and creative problem-solving skills.
