Job description

Overview:
Job Title: AI Data Engineer (Snowflake Cortex & Snowpark)
Company: R2 Technologies
Location: Alpharetta, GA (Hybrid / Remote Options Available)
Employment Type: Full-Time / Contractual
About R2 Technologies: R2 Technologies is a Certified Minority Business Enterprise (MBE) headquartered in Alpharetta, GA. With over two decades of experience across global markets, we have built a reputation as a trusted partner for IT staffing excellence and cutting-edge digital product innovation. We are driven by innovation and operate on a simple philosophy: "We deliver what we promise, and we promise only what we can deliver." Beyond providing top-tier IT talent, R2 builds cutting-edge proprietary solutions like SmartEnt-an Enterprise AI & IoT Intelligence Platform utilizing advanced NLP and AI technologies. By partnering closely with our clients, we deliver technology-driven outcomes that are realistic, measurable, and impactful.
Job Summary: The modern data warehouse is no longer just for storage-it is the brain of the enterprise. R2 Technologies is seeking an AI Data Engineer specializing in the Snowflake ecosystem. You will move beyond traditional ETL pipelines to build intelligent, agentic workflows directly within Snowflake. Leveraging Snowflake Cortex, Snowpark, and AI coding assistants, you will build Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) pipelines, semantic layers, and vector search capabilities that power our enterprise applications and internal SmartEnt platform.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and implement high-performance data pipelines using Snowflake, Snowpark (Python/SQL), and dbt.
  • Build and deploy Large Language Model (LLM) features directly on enterprise data using Snowflake Cortex AI, enabling natural language-to-SQL and semantic search workflows.
  • Create and manage Vector Embeddings and hybrid search pipelines within Snowflake to support enterprise RAG architectures.
  • Utilize AI-assisted coding tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Cursor) to automate pipeline generation, data testing, and documentation.
  • Modernize legacy data structures into modern open table formats (Apache Iceberg) to future-proof AI data consumption.
  • Implement robust data governance, dynamic masking, and Role-Based Access Control (RBAC) to ensure AI models comply with strict security and privacy standards.

Qualifications:
  • Up to 3 years of experience in Data Engineering, Analytics, or AI/ML Engineering.
  • Strong hands-on proficiency with Snowflake architecture, SQL, and Python.
  • Experience or strong familiarity with Snowflake's modern AI stack (Cortex, Snowpark, Vector functions).
  • Understanding of modern data modeling (Data Vault, Star Schema) and open table formats (Iceberg).
  • Proven experience working alongside AI coding assistants to enhance productivity.
  • Familiarity with building LLM context windows, prompt engineering, and RAG frameworks.
