Job description

Job Title: Corn Sorter


Location: Rushville, IN 46173
Pay Rate: $16.00/hour (No shift differential)
Orientation: Tuesday, August 19, 2025 | 9:30 AM – 11:30 AM (in sorting building)
Bonus: $500 end-of-harvest attendance bonus


Shift & Schedule:
  • Monday – Sunday, 6:15 AM to ~6:30 PM

  • 12-hour shifts with a 30-minute lunch break

  • At least 1 day off per week

  • Schedule determined by supervisors

  • Potential for reduced hours (40/week) if fully staffed


Job Overview:

Seeking Corn Sorters to support its seed processing operations during the 2025 harvest season. This is a seasonal, light industrial role requiring attention to detail, endurance, and reliability.

This opportunity is ideal for individuals who are currently unemployed or seeking temporary work in a climate-controlled, production-based agricultural environment.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Sort corn cobs on a moving conveyor line, identifying and removing:

    • Off-type ears

    • Immature, moldy, or insect-damaged corn

    • Crop debris and husk ribbons

  • Return re-husking cobs to the proper bins

  • Maintain a clean and organized work area

  • Follow all Corteva safety and hygiene guidelines

  • Assist in material changes during the kernel cleaning process

  • Immediately report incidents, hazards, or injuries


Physical & Environmental Requirements:
  • Ability to stand or sit (elevated stool provided) for long hours

  • Good eyesight for detailed sorting

  • Repetitive use of hands at a fast pace

  • Climate-controlled, yet loud environment (ear protection required)

  • Exposure to corn dust (common allergen)
