Job description

Are you a visionary finance executive with a passion for public service, strategic leadership, and organizational transformation? Do you have the technical expertise to navigate complex affordable housing finance while helping shape the future of one of Texas’ premier housing authorities? If so, the Corpus Christi Housing Authority (CCHA) invites you to apply to become its next Chief Financial Officer.

Reporting directly to the President & Chief Executive Officer, the CFO serves as the Authority’s chief financial strategist and trusted advisor, providing executive leadership for budgeting, accounting, financial reporting, redevelopment financing, internal controls, procurement, grants management, and regulatory compliance. This executive will play a pivotal role in supporting major redevelopment initiatives while ensuring the long-term financial strength and sustainability of the organization.

We’re seeking a strategic finance leader who is:
  • Experienced in affordable housing, governmental, or complex public-sector finance
  • Technically strong with the ability to communicate complex financial matters clearly
  • Collaborative, solutions-oriented, and committed to organizational excellence
  • Familiar with complex property redevelopment financing

Located along the Texas Gulf Coast, Corpus Christi is one of the state’s most vibrant coastal cities, offering residents an outstanding quality of life, a diverse economy, and abundant recreational opportunities. Situated on Corpus Christi Bay approximately 150 miles southeast of San Antonio.

Corpus Christi Housing Authority (CCHA), together with its affiliated nonprofit Coastal Housing Partners (CHP), provides quality affordable housing opportunities for thousands of Corpus Christi residents while investing in stronger neighborhoods and sustainable communities.

Required qualifications include:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a closely related field.
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA).
  • Minimum of 10-15 years of progressively responsible financial leadership experience, including executive-level responsibility.
  • Extensive experience in affordable housing, governmental finance, public housing authorities, or complex real estate finance.
  • Demonstrated expertise in budgeting, accounting, auditing, grants management, procurement, payroll, internal controls, financial reporting, and HUD compliance.
  • Experience with LIHTC transactions, tax-exempt bond financing, RAD conversions, capital planning, and multi-entity financial operations.
  • Excellent analytical, communication, leadership, and relationship-building skills.
Preferred qualifications include:
  • Master’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Public Administration, or a related discipline.
  • Experience implementing financial systems and technology improvements.
  • Experience supporting large-scale redevelopment initiatives.
  • Experience presenting financial information to governing boards, investors, auditors, and executive leadership.
  • Demonstrated success leading organizational change and developing high-performing finance teams.
